Many opportunities exist in grid modernization, renewable energy development, and energy storage technologies across the state.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most energy sponsorship jobs?
Boston dominates with cleantech startups, utility headquarters, and consulting firms. Cambridge hosts energy research companies near MIT. Worcester and Springfield have utility operations and manufacturing facilities. Coastal cities like New Bedford are becoming offshore wind hubs. Boston's financial district also houses energy investment firms that sponsor visa holders.
What visa types are most common for energy roles in Massachusetts?
H-1B visas are standard for engineers, analysts, and project managers in utilities and renewable energy companies. O-1 visas suit researchers from MIT or Harvard working in energy innovation. What is the prevailing wage for sponsored energy jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
