Which fintech companies sponsor H-1B visas in Michigan?
Rocket Companies and Ally Financial are among the most active H-1B visa sponsors in Michigan's fintech sector, with disclosed Labor Condition Applications covering software engineering, data analytics, and financial technology roles. Larger insurance technology firms operating out of the Detroit metro, including Flagstar Bank and StockX on the payments side, have also appeared in Department of Labor LCA disclosure data for H-1B filings.
Which cities in Michigan have the most fintech H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its suburbs, particularly Troy and Southfield, account for the largest share of fintech H-1B sponsorship activity in Michigan, driven by the concentration of financial services and mortgage technology firms headquartered in the region. Ann Arbor is a secondary hub with a stronger startup presence, especially in payments and insurtech, supported by University of Michigan talent pipelines that some employers actively recruit from.
What types of fintech roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Michigan?
Roles that qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B rules typically require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field directly related to the position. In Michigan fintech, this most commonly covers software engineers, data engineers, quantitative analysts, cybersecurity specialists, and financial systems architects. General business or analyst roles without a clear degree-field requirement may face more scrutiny during USCIS adjudication.
How do I find fintech H-1B sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers looking for H-1B sponsored positions, including fintech roles in Michigan. You can filter by state and industry to see verified sponsorship-eligible openings from employers who have a documented history of filing H-1B petitions. This saves significant time compared to manually cross-referencing job postings with Department of Labor LCA disclosure data.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in fintech?
Michigan fintech employers, particularly those in mortgage technology and consumer lending, are subject to both federal H-1B requirements and state-level financial services licensing frameworks, which can affect how quickly a sponsored employee can operate in a client-facing capacity. Additionally, the Detroit metro's fintech ecosystem skews toward established firms rather than early-stage startups, meaning sponsoring employers are generally more experienced with the H-1B petition process, though sponsorship is never guaranteed.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B fintech jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
