Which aerospace & defense companies sponsor visas in Minnesota?
Major visa sponsors include Lockheed Martin (missile systems in Eagan), General Dynamics (IT services), Honeywell Aerospace (avionics and engines), Collins Aerospace, and Northrop Grumman. These companies typically sponsor H-1B visas for software engineers, systems engineers, and program managers, plus L-1 visas for international transfers.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most aerospace & defense sponsorship jobs?
The Twin Cities metro dominates Minnesota's aerospace sector, with Eagan hosting Lockheed Martin's major facility and Minneapolis-St. Paul area housing Honeywell Aerospace operations. Bloomington, Eden Prairie, and Plymouth also have significant defense contractor presence, while smaller operations exist in Duluth and Rochester.
How to find aerospace & defense visa sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international professionals with visa-sponsoring aerospace and defense employers in Minnesota. The platform filters jobs by visa type and location, making it easy to find positions with companies like Lockheed Martin, Honeywell, and General Dynamics that actively sponsor work visas for qualified candidates.
Which visa types are most common for aerospace & defense roles in Minnesota?
H-1B visas dominate for entry to mid-level engineering positions in systems engineering, software development, and program management. L-1 visas are common for international transfers between company locations. O-1 visas occasionally appear for senior technical specialists with extraordinary expertise in specialized defense technologies or space systems.
Do Minnesota aerospace & defense companies prefer candidates from specific universities?
Minnesota employers often recruit from University of Minnesota's aerospace engineering and computer science programs, plus regional engineering schools. However, they also value candidates from top aerospace programs nationwide like MIT, Stanford, Georgia Tech, and Purdue, especially for specialized roles in avionics, propulsion, and defense systems.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored aerospace & defense jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
