Search Accounting Jobs in MinnesotaAccounting STEM OPT Sponsorship Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
Which accounting companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Minnesota?
In Minnesota, accounting employers that have historically supported F-1 STEM OPT workers include the Big Four firms, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, as well as mid-size regional firms like RSM U.S. and CliftonLarsonAllen, both headquartered in Minneapolis. Corporate accounting departments at large Minnesota-based companies in healthcare, financial services, and retail also represent viable sponsorship sources for STEM OPT-eligible roles.
Which cities in Minnesota have the most accounting F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and Saint Paul account for the large majority of accounting F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship opportunities in Minnesota. The Minneapolis central business district hosts Big Four offices, regional firm headquarters, and the accounting functions of Fortune 500 companies including UnitedHealth Group, Target, and U.S. Bancorp. Bloomington and Minnetonka also have notable concentrations of corporate finance and accounting teams within suburban employer campuses.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
F-1 STEM OPT eligibility requires the role to fall under a STEM-designated Classification of Instructional Programs code matched to the graduate's degree. In accounting, roles most likely to qualify include financial data analyst, forensic accountant, quantitative auditor, and management accountant positions where the employer can demonstrate the work is directly tied to a STEM-classified accounting or finance program. Standard tax preparation or bookkeeping roles with no data or analytical component are less likely to qualify.
How do I find accounting F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and professionals searching for verified sponsorship-friendly roles, including accounting F-1 STEM OPT positions in Minnesota. The platform surfaces employers with active sponsorship histories so you can focus applications on companies already experienced with STEM OPT authorization. Filtering by state and industry lets you quickly identify which Twin Cities accounting employers are actively hiring for STEM-eligible positions.
Are there state-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT accounting jobs in Minnesota?
Minnesota does not impose state-level visa or work authorization requirements beyond federal STEM OPT rules, but a few practical factors matter. Minnesota's licensed CPA requirements are governed by the Minnesota Board of Accountancy, and foreign credential evaluation may be required for graduates from non-U.S. institutions. Additionally, employers in Minnesota's large healthcare and insurance sectors, major accounting employers, may have compliance-specific onboarding steps that affect STEM OPT start timelines, so confirming authorization logistics with HR early is advisable.
