Which insurance companies in Minnesota sponsor Green Cards?
UnitedHealth Group, Securian Financial, Ameriprise Financial, and Allianz Life Insurance of North America are among the larger Minnesota-based insurers with histories of employer-sponsored immigration petitions. Midsize carriers and third-party administrators operating out of the Twin Cities metro have also filed sponsored permanent residence petitions, particularly for actuarial, technology, and data science positions where specialized talent is harder to source domestically.
Which Minnesota cities have the most insurance Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Minneapolis and its western suburbs, particularly Minnetonka and Eden Prairie, concentrate the majority of Minnesota's insurance Green Card sponsorship activity. St. Paul has a smaller but notable presence, largely tied to Securian Financial's headquarters there. Rochester sees occasional sponsorship tied to health insurance and benefits roles connected to the broader Mayo Clinic ecosystem, though volume is significantly lower than the Twin Cities corridor.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Minnesota?
Roles requiring specialized credentials or advanced degrees see the most consistent sponsorship activity. Actuaries (particularly those with FSA or ACAS designations), data scientists, software engineers supporting insurance platforms, risk analysts, and underwriters with niche product expertise are commonly sponsored. Compliance and regulatory roles tied to Minnesota's active state insurance market also appear in employer-sponsored petitions, particularly at larger carriers with established immigration programs.
How do I find insurance Green Card sponsorship jobs in Minnesota?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you filter by visa type, state, and industry to surface insurance roles in Minnesota where employers have indicated Green Card sponsorship. Because sponsorship intentions aren't always stated in standard job postings, using a platform like Migrate Mate that aggregates sponsorship-specific data saves significant time compared to manually reviewing individual company career pages across Minnesota's insurance employers.
Are there state-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in Minnesota's insurance industry?
Minnesota's Department of Commerce regulates insurance licensure, and some sponsored roles, particularly in underwriting and claims, may require state-specific licenses that take time to obtain after relocation. Employers typically account for this in their onboarding timelines. Additionally, Minnesota's concentration of health insurance and managed care organizations means EB-2 petitions tied to healthcare analytics and actuarial science are especially prevalent compared to national averages for the broader insurance industry.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card insurance jobs in Minnesota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
