Which accounting companies sponsor E-3 visas in North Carolina?
The Big Four accounting firms, Deloitte, PwC, EY, and KPMG, all maintain offices in Charlotte and the Research Triangle and have a track record of E-3 sponsorship. Large financial institutions headquartered in Charlotte, including Bank of America and Truist, also employ accounting professionals under E-3 visas. Regional mid-size CPA firms sponsor less frequently, though some do file E-3 petitions for specialized roles.
Which cities in North Carolina have the most accounting E-3 sponsorship jobs?
Charlotte is the primary hub, driven by its concentration of major banks, financial services companies, and Big Four offices. Raleigh and Durham, in the Research Triangle, offer strong opportunities through professional services firms, technology companies with large finance functions, and healthcare organizations. Greensboro also has a presence through regional accounting and audit firms serving the Triad's manufacturing and logistics industries.
What types of accounting roles typically qualify for E-3 sponsorship in North Carolina?
Roles that qualify as specialty occupations under the E-3 require at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field directly related to the position. In accounting, this includes external and internal audit, tax advisory, financial reporting, forensic accounting, and management consulting roles. General bookkeeping or accounts payable positions, where no specific degree field is required, typically do not meet the specialty occupation standard.
How do I find accounting E-3 sponsorship jobs in North Carolina?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type (E-3) and industry (accounting) to see North Carolina roles from employers who have demonstrated sponsorship willingness. This saves significant time compared to applying broadly and discovering late in the process that a firm does not sponsor E-3 visas. Migrate Mate's job board is updated regularly with verified sponsorship-eligible accounting positions across Charlotte, Raleigh, and beyond.
Are there any North Carolina-specific considerations for accounting E-3 sponsorship?
North Carolina requires CPAs to hold a license issued by the NC State Board of CPA Examiners. Australian accounting credentials are not automatically recognized, so E-3 holders working in roles requiring CPA licensure will need to meet the Board's education and examination requirements separately from their visa. For audit and tax roles at large firms that do not require licensure immediately, this is typically less of an immediate barrier, but it is worth confirming with your employer early in the process.
What is the prevailing wage for E-3 accounting jobs in North Carolina?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
