Purpose of Position
The Compliance Specialist ensures daily compliance with all regulatory and company recordkeeping requirements for NetJets Aviation (NJA) crewmembers. This includes the maintenance of currency, understanding complex training events and plans, a thorough understanding of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, correctly prioritizing tasks according to operational urgency, mastery of the FAA-approved electronic recordkeeping system, and communicating effectively with crewmembers, training vendors and other departments regarding crewmember duty status. The Compliance Specialist acts in place of the Supervisor, Crew Records in the Supervisor's absence, including being the primary point of contact for FAA Inspectors and other auditors who come to inspect crewmember training records.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Responsible for ensuring proper documentation of training/checking events and compliance for all NJA crewmembers.
- Responsible for auditing the work of other department personnel to ensure compliance.
- Responsible for auditing and making the final decision on crewmember duty assignments which must meet FAR 121 or 135 regulations, including evaluating numerous categories of regulatory training and company requirements to determine the proper duty assignment for each crewmember.
- Required to work independently, carrying a company-issued laptop and communication device for after-hour company needs. Responds to training/checking events that occur after hours and makes duty assignment changes as required. Works with other departments to make sure operational needs are met.
- Maintains the electronic recordkeeping system to meet FAA requirements based on CFR 121 and 135 regulations, including using independent judgement while approving completed training events and releasing crewmembers from non-qualified status to qualified flight status.
- Properly documents and publishes department processes and procedures.
