Which energy companies in Ohio sponsor work visas?
Major Ohio energy employers that sponsor visas include American Electric Power (AEP), FirstEnergy, Duke Energy Ohio, and Columbia Gas. What visa types are most common for energy jobs in Ohio?
H-1B visas dominate energy sponsorship in Ohio, particularly for electrical engineers, power systems analysts, and environmental engineers. O-1 visas are used for senior researchers and technical specialists in renewable energy. L-1 transfers are common for international energy companies with Ohio operations, while TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican engineers in the sector.
How to find energy visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate specializes in energy visa sponsorship jobs across Ohio, with filters for specific cities and energy subsectors. Focus on utility companies in Columbus and Cleveland, renewable energy projects in rural areas, and oil and gas operations in southeastern Ohio. Many positions require specialized engineering backgrounds or energy industry experience.
Which Ohio cities have the most energy visa sponsorship opportunities?

Winter weather knowledge and grid reliability experience are valued, along with familiarity with regional transmission organizations like PJM.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored energy jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
