Which renewable energy companies sponsor visas in Ohio?
American Electric Power, First Solar, and Clean Energy Future are among Ohio's largest renewable energy employers offering visa sponsorship. Manufacturing companies like Everbright and development firms focused on wind and solar projects also sponsor international talent for engineering and project management positions. Many positions require specialized technical expertise that qualifies for H-1B sponsorship.
How to find renewable energy visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?

The platform filters opportunities by industry and location, showing which companies have sponsored similar roles previously. Focus your search on engineering, project development, and technical positions where specialized expertise creates strong sponsorship cases.
Which visa types are most common for renewable energy roles in Ohio?
H-1B visas dominate renewable energy sponsorship in Ohio, particularly for electrical engineers, project managers, and energy analysts. L-1 transfers are common when international renewable energy companies establish Ohio operations. O-1 visas occasionally apply for professionals with extraordinary ability in emerging energy technologies or research backgrounds.
Which cities in Ohio have the most renewable energy sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio's renewable energy job market due to American Electric Power's headquarters and state government initiatives. Cleveland follows with manufacturing and development companies, while Cincinnati attracts corporate renewable energy divisions. Toledo and Akron also offer opportunities, particularly in manufacturing and supply chain roles for wind and solar components.
What makes Ohio attractive for renewable energy visa sponsorship?
Ohio's central location, manufacturing infrastructure, and competitive operating costs attract renewable energy companies. The state's Renewable Portfolio Standard creates consistent demand for qualified professionals. Ohio State University and Case Western Reserve University provide strong engineering talent pipelines, while prevailing wage requirements remain competitive compared to coastal markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored renewable energy jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
