Which agriculture companies sponsor visas in Ohio?
Major agriculture employers in Ohio that sponsor work visas include Nationwide Agribusiness, Kroger (headquarters in Cincinnati), Scotts Miracle-Gro, and various food processing facilities. Large-scale farming operations in northwest Ohio, particularly around Toledo, frequently sponsor H-2A visas for seasonal workers and H-1B visas for specialized agricultural engineers and research positions.
Which visa types are most common for agriculture roles in Ohio?
H-2A visas dominate for seasonal agricultural work in Ohio's grain and specialty crop farms, while H-1B visas are common for agricultural engineers, food scientists, and farm management roles. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican professionals in agricultural consulting and research positions, particularly at companies near the Ohio State University agricultural programs.
How to find agriculture visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate specializes in connecting international workers with Ohio agriculture employers who sponsor work visas. The platform filters opportunities specifically for agriculture roles across Ohio's farming regions, from grain operations in western counties to specialty crop farms near Lake Erie, making it easier to find positions that match your agricultural background and visa needs.
Which cities in Ohio have the most agriculture sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads in agriculture sponsorship opportunities due to corporate headquarters and Ohio State University research facilities. Toledo and surrounding northwest Ohio counties offer numerous positions in grain processing and farming operations, while Cincinnati provides opportunities with major food companies. Smaller cities like Wooster and Delaware also host agricultural research and specialty crop operations.
What prevailing wage considerations apply to agriculture jobs in Ohio?
Ohio's agriculture prevailing wages vary significantly by region and role type, with specialized positions like agricultural engineers commanding higher wages in metropolitan areas. The state's lower cost of living compared to coastal states can make visa sponsorship more attractive to employers, particularly for research positions affiliated with Ohio State University's agricultural programs and corporate facilities.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored agriculture jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
