Which transportation companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Ohio?
Ohio-based and nationally operating companies with significant Ohio footprints that have historically engaged CPT students in transportation include Norfolk Southern, XPO Logistics, Penske Logistics, and Amazon's fulfillment and transportation divisions. Ohio also has a strong presence of third-party logistics providers and freight brokerage firms that work with university co-op programs. Sponsorship availability depends on whether a company has an active university partnership or co-op agreement in place.
Which cities in Ohio have the most transportation F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads due to its position as a major Midwest distribution hub, with dense freight, logistics, and supply chain activity concentrated near Port Columbus and the Rickenbacker Logistics Park. Cleveland follows, supported by its Great Lakes port operations and intermodal rail connections. Cincinnati's tri-state logistics corridor along the Ohio River also generates consistent demand for transportation interns and co-op students from regional universities.
What types of transportation roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Roles that align with a student's academic program are eligible for CPT authorization. In transportation, this commonly includes supply chain analyst internships, logistics engineering co-ops, operations planning roles, fleet management positions, and transportation data analyst positions. The role must directly relate to your degree field, and your Designated School Official must approve the CPT before work begins. Roles in general warehousing or driving without an analytical or engineering component are less likely to qualify.
How do I find transportation F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students looking for visa-sponsored roles and lets you filter by visa type, state, and industry, making it straightforward to browse transportation F-1 CPT jobs in Ohio. Beyond job boards, Ohio's university career centers at Ohio State, University of Cincinnati, and Cleveland State maintain direct employer relationships with local transportation and logistics firms that actively recruit through co-op and internship programs.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in the transportation industry?
Ohio's transportation sector is heavily intermodal, meaning many roles span rail, trucking, and air freight, which can offer broader academic relevance across engineering, business, and supply chain programs. Some positions, particularly those involving regulated freight or transportation infrastructure, may require background checks or security clearances that can affect international student eligibility. Always confirm CPT authorization with your DSO before accepting an offer, and verify that the employer's role description explicitly matches your degree program.
