Which education companies and institutions sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Ohio?
Ohio's largest CPT sponsors in education tend to be universities and colleges rather than private companies. Ohio State University, Case Western Reserve University, University of Cincinnati, and Ohio University have histories of placing international students in CPT-eligible roles within their schools of education, research centers, and academic support departments. Larger edtech and tutoring companies with Ohio offices also participate in CPT arrangements, though university-affiliated roles are the most common.
Which cities in Ohio have the most education F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads the state given Ohio State University's scale and the city's growing edtech presence. Cleveland follows, anchored by Case Western Reserve University and a cluster of charter school networks and education nonprofits. Cincinnati offers opportunities through the University of Cincinnati and regional K-12 consulting firms. Athens and Oxford, home to Ohio University and Miami University respectively, are smaller markets but consistently active for education-specific CPT placements.
What types of education roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship in Ohio?
Roles that qualify for CPT must be directly related to your declared field of study and be part of a curricular requirement. In education, this commonly includes instructional design, educational research, curriculum development, academic advising support, and ed-tech product roles at companies aligned with your program. Teaching assistant positions tied to a graduate program can also qualify. Your DSO at your Ohio university must authorize the specific position before you begin work.
How do I find education F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students searching for CPT-eligible roles, including education jobs in Ohio. You can filter by visa type and state to surface employers actively open to F-1 CPT candidates, which removes the guesswork of cold-applying to roles that won't consider your status. Pairing Migrate Mate with your university's career center, which often has direct employer relationships in the local education sector, gives you the strongest combination.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in the education sector?
Ohio's high density of public universities means many CPT-eligible education roles are funded through state budgets, which can affect hiring timelines and headcount approvals. Positions at public institutions sometimes require additional HR steps before a CPT authorization letter can be issued. Ohio also has active accreditation standards for K-12 roles, so positions involving direct classroom instruction may have licensure requirements that affect whether a role qualifies for CPT under your program's criteria. Confirm eligibility with your DSO before accepting any offer.
