Which animal care & pet services companies sponsor H-1B visas in Ohio?
Ohio has several employers with documented H-1B visa sponsorship activity in animal care and pet services. MedVet, headquartered in Columbus, is one of the larger specialty veterinary networks with a history of sponsoring veterinarians. The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Ohio State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, and select corporate pet wellness chains operating in the Cincinnati and Cleveland metro areas have also filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for animal care roles.
Which cities in Ohio have the most animal care & pet services H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio for animal care and pet services H-1B opportunities, driven by Ohio State University's veterinary programs and MedVet's corporate headquarters. Cleveland follows, with specialty and emergency veterinary practices concentrated in its suburbs. Cincinnati is a secondary market with growing demand in companion animal medicine. Smaller markets like Dayton and Toledo have fewer sponsoring employers but do host regional veterinary specialty referral centers.
What types of animal care & pet services roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Ohio?
H-1B sponsorship in this sector is generally limited to roles classified as specialty occupations, meaning they require at least a bachelor's degree in a specifically related field. In Ohio, that most commonly means licensed veterinarians with DVM or equivalent degrees, veterinary specialists such as oncologists and cardiologists, animal nutritionists with advanced credentials, and research scientists working in comparative medicine or animal behavior at university-affiliated institutions.
How do I find animal care & pet services H-1B sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa type and state, making it straightforward to search for animal care and pet services roles in Ohio where employers have active H-1B sponsorship history. Because Migrate Mate uses DOL Labor Condition Application data, you can see which Ohio employers have actually filed H-1B petitions for animal care roles rather than relying on unverified job posting claims. Filtering by the animal care and pet services category in Ohio returns verified sponsoring employers directly.
Are there any Ohio-specific or industry-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in animal care & pet services?
Ohio requires veterinarians to hold a valid Ohio veterinary license issued by the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board, which is separate from H-1B approval. An employer can file an H-1B petition while state licensure is pending, but you cannot legally practice until both are in place. Ohio State University's veterinary college also employs foreign-trained veterinarians in research and instructional roles that may have different licensure pathways than clinical practice positions.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B animal care & pet services jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
