Which hospitality companies sponsor H-1B visas in Ohio?
Large hotel management companies and casino resort operators account for most H-1B sponsorship activity in Ohio's hospitality sector. Brands operating full-service properties in Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati, including Marriott-affiliated and Hilton-affiliated management groups, have historically filed H-1B petitions for specialized management and operational roles. Smaller boutique hotels rarely sponsor due to cost and administrative complexity, so larger corporate-managed properties are the more realistic target.
Which cities in Ohio have the most hospitality H-1B sponsorship jobs?
Columbus leads Ohio for hospitality H-1B activity, driven by a large convention center, a growing downtown hotel market, and Ohio State University-adjacent tourism. Cleveland follows, with its casino resorts, waterfront hotels, and major sports and entertainment venues generating consistent demand. Cincinnati rounds out the top three, supported by its convention business and riverfront hospitality corridor. Smaller markets like Dayton and Toledo offer fewer opportunities.
What types of hospitality roles typically qualify for H-1B sponsorship in Ohio?
H-1B sponsorship in hospitality is limited to specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. In Ohio, this typically includes roles like food and beverage director, revenue manager, hotel operations manager, hospitality technology analyst, and finance or accounting positions within hotel companies. Front-of-house roles, hourly service positions, and general management jobs that accept any degree field generally do not qualify as specialty occupations under H-1B standards.
How do I find hospitality H-1B sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters hospitality roles in Ohio by H-1B sponsorship, so you're not sorting through listings from employers who won't sponsor. Search by state and industry to surface hotel management companies, casino operators, and hospitality tech employers with active openings. Focusing on corporate-managed full-service properties in Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati gives you the strongest pool of realistic sponsorship candidates.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for H-1B sponsorship in hospitality?
Ohio does not have state-level visa programs, so all H-1B requirements follow federal USCIS and Department of Labor rules. One practical consideration is that Ohio's hospitality market is more seasonal than coastal markets, which can affect how employers structure employment offers. Roles tied to convention seasons or event calendars may involve variable hours, and H-1B petitions require a bona fide full-time or part-time position with a defined wage, so position structure matters when evaluating an offer.
What is the prevailing wage for H-1B hospitality jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
