Job Title: Safety Technician
Location: Pataskala, OH (with occasional travel to our facilities in Frazeysburg, OH)
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
Pay Rate: $19-$22/hr (Negotiable; Dependent upon experience)
Job Summary:
The Safety Technician will report to the Safety Manager and support the Safety Manager in both the implementation of existing safety programs and the promotion of a culture that prioritizes safety. Day-to-day tasks will range from providing training, performing daily regular inspections and audits, updating documentation, coordinating with vendors, etc. This is an entry-level position that doesn't require a safety-related degree, but related experience is a requirement. The ideal candidate will have a passion for safety and ambition to grow in the company.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
- Ensure compliance with company, state, and federal safety policies and regulations.
- Ability and willingness to flex work hours on occasion to support site needs, including night and weekend hours if required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required, including a level of comfort delivering training and motivational presentations.
- Experience with hazard recognition, behavioral-based safety, job hazard analysis is desired.
- Conduct daily floor walkthroughs to ensure work site maintains continuous state of compliance with Ridge safety standards and governmental regulation.
- Check Safety Supply PPE Inventory Levels.
- Participate on the Safety Team and initiatives.
- Daily review of all mobile equipment inspections.
- Check Forklift Book Supply and Place Order.
- Facilitate orientation training for forklift operators, crane operators, and production personnel.
- Update OSHA 300 Log Review.
- Coordinate with vendors for inspections.
- Conduct job hazard assessments.
- Evaluate, schedule, and conduct EHS training programs and perform general data entry.
- Conduct safety audits and inspections at different frequencies as well as uphold 5S Housekeeping System Standards.
- Be familiar with OSHA regulations specifically 29 CFR 1910 and applicable EPA regulations and requirements.
- Perform and evaluate incident/accidents/near miss reporting, investigations and implement corrective actions related to Safety.
- Monitor and assist in Workers Compensation Claim Management and Return to Work Program.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The qualifications listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or abilities required. - High School diploma / GED required.
- Minimum of 1-2 years experience managing safety and environmental programs or projects in a manufacturing environment or school-related programs.
- Knowledge of company safety, OSHA and department policies and procedures.
- Emergency response to include certification in CPR/AED and First Aid.
- Excellent computer and communication skills required.
- Good applied interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend basic English and perform basic math functions.
- Ability to be self-motivated.
- Adequate transportation is required.
Workplace Experience:
Previous manufacturing experience is preferred.
Ergonomic Requirements:
- Ability to Stand for Long Periods of Time.
- Ability to Push, Pull, Lift, and/or Carry up to 75 lbs.
