Which hospitality companies in Ohio sponsor H-2B visas?
Cedar Point in Sandusky is one of Ohio's most active H-2B visa sponsors, hiring seasonal workers for food service, lodging, and resort operations. Lake Erie waterfront resorts, golf courses, and ski resorts in northeastern Ohio also file H-2B petitions regularly. Larger hotel chains and event venues in Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati occasionally sponsor H-2B workers for peak-season positions.
Which cities in Ohio have the most hospitality H-2B sponsorship jobs?
Sandusky leads Ohio for hospitality H-2B activity due to Cedar Point and surrounding Lake Erie tourism. Cleveland supports H-2B hiring tied to its convention and hotel industry. Columbus and Cincinnati see H-2B demand during major events and peak travel seasons. Smaller resort towns in northeastern Ohio, particularly in the ski corridor near Alpine Valley, also generate seasonal H-2B openings.
What types of hospitality roles typically qualify for H-2B sponsorship in Ohio?
Common H-2B hospitality roles in Ohio include housekeeping attendants, food and beverage servers, ride operators at amusement parks, groundskeeping staff at golf courses and resorts, and hotel front desk support during peak seasons. These positions qualify because they are temporary or seasonal in nature, tied to a predictable spike in demand rather than ongoing year-round operational needs.
How do I find hospitality H-2B sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate is a dedicated platform for international job seekers and lists hospitality H-2B sponsorship jobs in Ohio filtered by visa type and industry. Searching on Migrate Mate lets you focus specifically on Ohio employers who have a history of filing H-2B petitions for hospitality roles, saving time compared to sorting through general job listings where sponsorship details are rarely disclosed upfront.
Are there any Ohio-specific considerations for H-2B hospitality workers?
Ohio's H-2B hospitality demand is strongly seasonal, peaking between May and September for amusement parks and Lake Erie tourism, and again during winter for ski resorts. Workers should confirm the exact employment start date with their employer, as H-2B status is tied to the period of need certified by the Department of Labor. Arriving significantly before the certified start date is not permitted under H-2B rules.
What is the prevailing wage for H-2B hospitality jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
