The Ideal Candidate
The Senior Men's Footwear Designer plays a key role in supporting the design strategy and seasonal execution of the Johnston & Murphy men’s footwear business. This position contributes to the design and development of men’s footwear, ensuring product concepts align with brand direction, consumer needs, and business objectives. A highly creative and collaborative individual contributor, the Senior Designer partners closely with Product Line Management and Development, to deliver compelling, well-executed footwear that meets design, quality, and commercial goals.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Create new and innovative products that are consumer driven, market relevant and brand appropriate.
- Design a wide range of footwear including casual, sneakers, boots, and dress casual.
- Partner with product development to ensure new concepts are interpreted correctly by the factory, any issues are resolved, and we meet target pricing.
- Participate in market/trend research, development of seasonal trend stories and color pallets.
- Verbally present concepts and design solutions to mid and senior level managers. Ability to constructively discuss and utilize feedback to create excellent product.
- Responsible for visually presenting new concepts at key milestone meetings, as well as communicating thorough tech packs to product development and factory partners.
- Manage multiple projects, with sensitivity to department priorities and deadlines.
- Willingness and ability to travel to sourcing countries to drive team projects.
Experience and Skills You'll Need to Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design or related field of study
- Minimum of 6+ years of footwear design experience
- Excellent rendering and presentation skills required
- A strong knowledge of multiple footwear constructions, ranging from sandals, sneakers, casual/dress casual, and boots
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- The ability to adapt quickly and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Strong blend of analytical, decision-making, and creative problem-solving skills
- Domestic and international travel required
