Which medical devices companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Texas?
Several major medical devices employers in Texas have histories of hiring F-1 CPT students, including Becton Dickinson (BD) in San Antonio, Integer Holdings in Plano, and Philips in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Smaller contract manufacturers and medtech startups in Austin and Houston also participate in CPT programs, often through partnerships with local universities. CPT authorization ultimately depends on your school's program requirements, not just employer willingness.
Which cities in Texas have the most medical devices F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Dallas-Fort Worth leads in medical devices CPT opportunities, anchored by corporate headquarters and manufacturing facilities for multiple device companies in Plano, Irving, and Fort Worth. Austin has a growing medtech startup presence, particularly in digital health and diagnostic devices. San Antonio and Houston round out the top markets, with San Antonio hosting notable orthopaedic and surgical device operations and Houston tied to the Texas Medical Center's supplier ecosystem.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Roles that are directly related to a student's field of study are eligible for CPT authorization. In medical devices, this commonly includes positions in quality engineering, regulatory affairs, R&D, product design, manufacturing engineering, and clinical operations. Software engineering and data science roles at medical devices companies also qualify when the student's degree program aligns. Your DSO must confirm that any role you accept is integral to your academic curriculum before CPT begins.
How do I find medical devices F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students seeking CPT-eligible roles and filters listings by visa type, industry, and state, making it straightforward to browse medical devices F-1 CPT jobs in Texas without wading through postings that don't apply to your situation. Beyond the job board, networking with your university's career center and reaching out to university co-op coordinators at Texas schools can surface unadvertised CPT positions with medtech employers.
Are there any Texas-specific or medical devices-specific considerations for F-1 CPT sponsorship?
Texas has no state income tax, which affects your net compensation but has no bearing on CPT eligibility itself. On the industry side, medical devices roles often require FDA-regulated work environments, meaning employers may run background checks or require specific academic prerequisites before onboarding a CPT student. Some positions involve export-controlled technology under EAR or ITAR regulations, which can restrict eligibility based on citizenship or visa status, so confirm these requirements with the employer before accepting an offer.
