Which aerospace and defense companies sponsor Green Card visas in Texas?
Several large defense contractors with a significant Texas presence have established Green Card sponsorship programs, including Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Technologies, L3Harris, Bell Textron, and Boeing. NASA's Johnson Space Center in Houston also sponsors permanent residence for qualifying researchers and engineers. Sponsorship practices vary by role, business unit, and internal headcount priorities, so it is worth researching each employer individually.
Which cities in Texas have the most aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Fort Worth and the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex lead the state, driven by Lockheed Martin's F-35 production facilities and a dense supplier network. Houston is a hub for space systems and NASA-adjacent contractors. San Antonio supports a large military aviation maintenance sector around Joint Base San Antonio. Waco and Amarillo also have notable defense manufacturing activity tied to specific program contracts.
What types of aerospace and defense roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship?
Roles that typically qualify include systems engineers, aerospace engineers, avionics and electrical engineers, software engineers working on embedded or defense systems, propulsion specialists, and program managers with technical degrees. Positions requiring specialized knowledge in areas such as radar systems, satellite communications, or hypersonics tend to attract sponsorship because the talent pool is narrow. Most sponsored roles require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or technical discipline.
How do I find aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship jobs in Texas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship type and industry, making it straightforward to browse aerospace and defense Green Card sponsorship opportunities across Texas without sorting through positions that do not offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by city, role type, and employer to focus your search on Fort Worth, Houston, or San Antonio. Creating a profile on Migrate Mate also helps match you with relevant openings as they are posted.
Are there any Texas-specific or industry-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in aerospace and defense?
Many aerospace and defense positions in Texas require access to classified information under a U.S. security clearance, which is currently only available to U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents. This means that for certain roles, the Green Card itself is a prerequisite for the clearance, not a parallel process. Employers sponsoring these roles understand this constraint and typically structure sponsorship timelines accordingly, though the EB-2 and EB-3 backlogs for some nationalities can significantly extend the overall timeline to permanent residence.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card aerospace & defense jobs in Texas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
