Which healthcare companies sponsor TN visas in Virginia?
Large hospital systems with established HR and immigration infrastructure are the most consistent TN visa sponsors in Virginia. Inova Health System (Northern Virginia), Sentara Healthcare (Hampton Roads and Richmond), and VCU Health (Richmond) regularly hire internationally trained professionals in qualifying occupations. Federal health contractors near the D.C. metro area also sponsor TN workers in roles like medical technologist and physical therapist.
Which cities in Virginia have the most healthcare TN sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia, particularly Falls Church, Arlington, and Fairfax, has the highest concentration of healthcare TN opportunities due to proximity to D.C. and the presence of Inova's flagship campuses. Richmond anchors central Virginia hiring through VCU Health and HCA Virginia Health System. Hampton Roads, home to Sentara's network, is a strong secondary market for allied health and nursing-adjacent TN-eligible roles.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for TN sponsorship?
The TN visa covers a defined list of healthcare occupations including medical laboratory technologist, physical therapist, pharmacist, occupational therapist, dietitian, psychologist, and certain nursing roles for Canadians holding a baccalaureate degree or provincial licensure. Physicians and dentists are generally excluded from TN eligibility. Roles outside the USMCA occupation list, regardless of degree requirement, do not qualify for TN classification.
How do I find healthcare TN sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa type and industry, making it straightforward to browse healthcare roles in Virginia where employers have indicated TN sponsorship. Rather than sifting through general job boards, Migrate Mate surfaces positions relevant to Canadian and Mexican professionals in TN-eligible occupations, saving significant time during a job search that is already time-sensitive for many applicants.
Are there state-specific considerations for TN healthcare workers in Virginia?
Virginia requires state licensure for most regulated healthcare professions, and TN status does not waive those requirements. Pharmacists must pass the NAPLEX and MPJE and apply through the Virginia Board of Pharmacy. Physical therapists require NPTE passage and state board approval. Canadian professionals should confirm their provincial credentials are recognized by the relevant Virginia licensing board before accepting an offer, as licensure timelines can affect start dates.
