Which electronics companies in Wisconsin sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas?
Rockwell Automation in Milwaukee is one of the most active electronics employers in Wisconsin with documented STEM OPT hiring history, particularly for controls and embedded systems roles. Plexus Corp in Neenah regularly hires electronics engineers on OPT authorization. Johnson Controls, headquartered in Milwaukee, and Astronautics Corporation of America are additional employers with electronics-focused STEM OPT sponsorship patterns. Employer filing history varies by year and role, so verify current sponsorship activity before applying.
Which Wisconsin cities have the most electronics F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee is Wisconsin's primary hub for electronics STEM OPT sponsorship, driven by its concentration of industrial automation and controls manufacturers. The Fox Valley corridor, anchored by Neenah and Appleton, is a strong secondary market due to companies like Plexus Corp. Madison sees demand from hardware-adjacent firms and university-linked tech spinouts. Waukesha and the broader Milwaukee metro also have aerospace and defense electronics employers actively hiring engineering talent.
What types of electronics roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Roles that qualify for STEM OPT must appear on the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List and involve a degree in an eligible field. In Wisconsin's electronics sector, qualifying positions typically include hardware design engineers, embedded systems engineers, PCB layout and signal integrity engineers, quality and reliability engineers, and automation controls engineers. USCIS requires that the role be directly related to your qualifying STEM degree. Positions classified under SOC codes for electrical or computer hardware engineering on O*NET generally meet this standard.
How do I find electronics F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa type and industry, making it straightforward to search for electronics roles in Wisconsin where employers have F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship history. Because STEM OPT requires employer participation in E-Verify, Migrate Mate's data helps surface companies that meet this mandatory requirement. Searching by state and filtering to electronics or hardware roles lets you focus on employers actively hiring STEM OPT candidates in Wisconsin rather than sifting through generic postings.
Are there Wisconsin-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in electronics?
Wisconsin's electronics hiring is heavily tied to industrial manufacturing, which means many STEM OPT roles are with established mid-size and large manufacturers rather than startups. Employers in this sector must be enrolled in E-Verify to sponsor STEM OPT, which most Wisconsin manufacturing firms already are. Wisconsin does not impose state-level immigration rules beyond federal requirements, but employers in regulated industries like defense electronics may require additional eligibility checks unrelated to visa status. USCIS remains the authority on STEM OPT compliance requirements.
