Which fashion and apparel companies in Wisconsin sponsor Green Cards?
Lands' End in Dodgeville is the most prominent Wisconsin-based apparel employer with a history of sponsoring permanent residency for specialized roles. Milwaukee-area retailers and uniform suppliers also sponsor Green Cards, typically for technical designers, merchandising managers, and sourcing specialists. Sponsorship is reserved for positions requiring specialized qualifications that are difficult to fill domestically, so not every open role will qualify.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most fashion and apparel Green Card sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee has the highest concentration of fashion and apparel employers in Wisconsin, followed by Madison and Green Bay. Dodgeville, though small, is significant due to Lands' End's headquarters presence. Most corporate functions, including design, product development, and merchandising, are based in these metro areas, making them the most practical locations to target for sponsored roles.
What types of fashion and apparel roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Roles that typically qualify involve specialized skills not easily sourced domestically. In Wisconsin's fashion and apparel sector, this includes technical designers, pattern makers, apparel product developers, textile sourcing managers, and supply chain analysts with industry-specific expertise. Positions requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher, combined with demonstrated experience in a specialized function, are most commonly sponsored through EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories.
How do I find fashion and apparel Green Card sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for international job seekers and filters job listings by visa sponsorship type, including Green Card, and by industry. You can search directly for fashion and apparel roles in Wisconsin where employers have indicated willingness to sponsor permanent residency. This saves time compared to manually screening general job listings, since sponsorship availability is surfaced upfront rather than discovered late in the application process.
Are there state-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in Wisconsin's fashion industry?
Wisconsin does not have state-level immigration programs, so Green Card sponsorship follows standard federal employment-based processes. However, Wisconsin's fashion industry skews toward functional roles in manufacturing, retail operations, and catalog or direct-to-consumer brands rather than high-fashion design. Employers here may be more familiar with EB-3 sponsorship for skilled workers than with EB-1 extraordinary ability petitions, which are more common in major fashion hubs like New York.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card fashion & apparel jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
