The Senior Paralegal supports the Legal/Compliance team's leadership by executing a range of legal and legal support functions, such as conducting legal research and drafting written communications. This role requires 100% onsite attendance in our Pontiac office.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Researching and analyzing law sources such as statutes, regulations, judicial decisions, and legal articles related to servicing
- Preparing written correspondence with outside counsel and other third-parties
- Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
- Editing legal documents for accuracy
- Reviewing, monitoring and responding to regulatory requests
- Assisting with Legal/Compliance trainings
- Assisting with issues related to MERS, servicing, title claims and other title related issues
- Performing clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, and composing and typing routine correspondence
- Other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Must Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or Paralegal certificate and a minimum of four years of previous experience in a legal support environment, either in a corporate or law firm setting
- Experience performing legal research
- A commitment to continuous business improvement
- Ability to collaborate with numerous teams and team members to mitigate risk and ensure legal matters are resolved timely
- Effective planning, organizational and project management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously effectively
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and communication skills with an attention to correct grammar and business writing skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills
- Self-motivated and able to work well in a team-based environment
- This position requires on-site attendance
