Wealth Advisor Jobs in North Carolina: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a wealth advisor in North Carolina?
Becoming a wealth advisor in North Carolina requires passing the FINRA Series 65 exam or the Series 7 paired with the Series 66, and registering as an investment adviser representative through the North Carolina Secretary of State Securities Division. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field. Earning a CFP designation strengthens candidacy considerably and is increasingly expected at mid-level and senior roles.
How much do wealth advisors make in North Carolina?
Wealth advisors in North Carolina earn a median of about $96,880 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $48,790 for the lowest 10% to over $287,290 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire wealth advisors in North Carolina?
Employers hiring wealth advisors in North Carolina right now include JPMorganChase, Beacon Pointe Advisors, and Truist, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Charlotte's standing as a major U.S. banking center means the state consistently produces some of the highest volumes of wealth management openings in the Southeast.
Which North Carolina cities have the most wealth advisor jobs?
Charlotte, Raleigh, and Winston-Salem account for the most wealth advisor openings in North Carolina. Charlotte leads because of its concentration of large bank headquarters and independent advisory firms, while Raleigh and the broader Research Triangle attract openings tied to the region's growing professional and technology workforce, whose employees and executives require personal financial planning services.
Are there remote wealth advisor jobs in North Carolina?
Yes, though they are less common than in purely analytical roles because wealth advising relies heavily on client relationships that many firms prefer to maintain in person. About 67% of wealth advisor openings tied to North Carolina are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with remote arrangements most often found in financial planning support, client onboarding, and portfolio analysis functions rather than primary relationship management roles.
How can I get hired as a wealth advisor in North Carolina with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an associate advisor or client service associate role at one of Charlotte's large bank-affiliated wealth management divisions, which routinely hire candidates who have passed the Series 65 but have limited client-facing experience. Firms like Bank of America and Wells Fargo run structured development programs for new advisors in North Carolina. Coming from a banking, insurance, or financial analyst role strengthens a candidacy, and completing a CFP coursework program before applying gives a meaningful edge.
Where can I find and apply to wealth advisor jobs in North Carolina?
You can find and apply to wealth advisor jobs in North Carolina on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and target location, and apply directly to the employer.
