Job Overview

Determine patients' x-ray or DXA scan needs by reading requests or instructions from physician and explain procedures to patient. Position patient on examining table, set up and adjust equipment to view specific body area as requested by physician. Perform procedures using x-ray equipment under supervision of physician. Use beam-restrictive devices and patient-shielding techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patient and staff. Assure that all appropriate safety regulations are implemented. Process exposed radiographs using computer generated methods. Maintain equipment and supplies and assure that necessary repairs and maintenance of equipment are implemented in a timely and cost effective manner. Assist in Ultrasound examinations by entering patient data and facilitating physician exams.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for patient check in to clinical area and ensure that they are ready for examination (removing or changing appropriate clothing, removal of bandages, shoes, etc.)
• Ensure efficiency of patient check in, examinations, and X-rays.
• Perform X-Ray, DXA, and ultrasound studies as per above.
• Ensure that X-Ray images are delivered to exam rooms in timely manner.
• Ensure that any MRI studies are ready to be viewed.
• Prepare medical trays, ultrasound, casting material, and DME’s as necessary for appropriate patient care.
• Assist, as necessary, with patient exams and ultrasound procedures.
• Schedule or facilitate scheduling of follow-up studies (such as MRI’s) or physical therapy treatment with appropriate provider and patient.
• Assist in administering and fitting all DME’s as appropriate to patients.
• Ensure that front office has record of all appropriate billable supplies.
• Ensure X Ray room is appropriately equipped with necessary medical supplies and ready for patients.
• Responsible for inventory maintenance for all DME’s and medical supplies and re-order as necessary.
• Monitor linen usage to ensure a continuous supply.
• Maintain certification/license/inspections of equipment to include CR and DXA.
• Maintain primary interface with PACS provider and report/correct any deficiencies, problems.
• Pre-certify with insurance all necessary procedures, medical supplies (DME). Maintain documentation of pre-cert status.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Radiology certification mandatory
• Be organized and cordial with patients and have excellent administrative, computer and EMR skills
• Anticipate necessary patient care to ensure efficiency of patient flow
• Ability to commute to Daniel Island, SC

Pay: $25.00 - $26.00 per hour
