Accounting Manager: Chastain Excavating

We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team. This is a full-time, in-office position for an individual who is comfortable independently managing accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing reliable financial information to support business decisions.The ideal candidate is highly organized, takes initiative, and can manage a variety of responsibilities in a fast-paced construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring accuracy and consistency in financial records.
• Manage accounts payable, including vendor invoices, payment processing, and account reconciliation.
• Manage accounts receivable, including customer invoicing, payment tracking, and collections.
• Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations.
• Oversee payroll processing, payroll tax reporting, and related recordkeeping.
• Monitor construction job costs, track project expenses, and prepare job profitability reports.
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports.
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Maintain organized financial records and ensure compliance with applicable accounting procedures.
• Work directly with company management to provide financial information and support operational decisions.
• Assist with additional accounting and general office responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in accounting, with the ability to independently manage multiple accounting functions.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and account reconciliation.
• Experience with QuickBooks, preferably QuickBooks Online.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and take ownership of assigned tasks.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and correct financial discrepancies.
• Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential financial information.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous accounting experience in construction, excavation, or a related industry.
• Experience with construction job costing and project profitability reporting.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
• Experience managing payroll and payroll tax reporting.

A college degree is not required. Relevant hands-on accounting experience, demonstrated competency, and the ability to perform the responsibilities of the position are highly valued.
