Accounting Manager Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounting manager in Oklahoma?
Most accounting managers in Oklahoma hold a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and several years of progressive experience in staff or senior accountant roles. While a CPA license is not legally required for the title, the Oklahoma Accountancy Board issues CPA credentials that most mid-to-large employers treat as a strong differentiator. Candidates who move into management typically come from senior accountant, financial analyst, or controller-track positions at Oklahoma-based companies.
Which companies hire accounting managers in Oklahoma?
Companies currently hiring accounting managers in Oklahoma include Oklahoma State University, Koch, and Jobot, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Oklahoma's energy, healthcare, and retail headquarters sectors generate particularly consistent demand for accounting leadership roles throughout the year.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most accounting manager jobs?
Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and Stillwater have the most accounting manager openings in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City anchors the bulk of listings due to its concentration of corporate headquarters, state government agencies, and regional healthcare systems, while Tulsa's energy and manufacturing sectors drive demand there, and smaller markets reflect the hiring activity of large employers with regional operations nearby.
Are there remote accounting manager jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 29% of accounting manager openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how naturally desk-based and systems-driven this role is. Financial reporting, general ledger oversight, and close management are the functions most likely to be performed remotely, while roles tied to on-site operations or multi-location oversight often require at least partial presence.
How can I get hired as a accounting manager in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into a senior accountant or accounting supervisor role first, then stepping into management once you have led a close cycle or a small team. Oklahoma City and Tulsa healthcare systems, energy companies, and state agencies regularly hire staff accountants at entry level and promote from within. Pursuing the CPA credential through the Oklahoma Accountancy Board or earning a master's in accounting significantly strengthens your candidacy for competitive management openings before you have the years on the ground.
Where can I find and apply to accounting manager jobs in Oklahoma?
You can find and apply to accounting manager jobs in Oklahoma on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Search the listings, find roles that match your background and the type of organization you want to work for, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
