Acquisition Marketing Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a acquisition marketing manager in California?
Acquisition marketing manager roles in California do not require a state-issued license or credential. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in marketing, business, economics, or a related discipline, along with hands-on experience in performance or growth marketing. In California's competitive tech and e-commerce market, candidates who build expertise in paid media platforms, A/B testing, and funnel analytics and who can demonstrate measurable outcomes tend to advance most consistently.
How much do acquisition marketing managers make in California?
Acquisition marketing managers in California earn a median of about $193,620 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $104,370 for the lowest 10% to over $326,400 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire acquisition marketing managers in California?
Employers hiring acquisition marketing managers in California right now include Amazon, Box, and HappyRobot, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's density of technology headquarters, subscription-based businesses, and direct-to-consumer brands makes it one of the most active states for this role year-round.
Which California cities have the most acquisition marketing manager jobs?
San Francisco, Culver City, and Mountain View have the most acquisition marketing manager openings in California. San Francisco leads because of its concentration of technology and SaaS companies, Los Angeles is driven by e-commerce, entertainment tech, and consumer startups, and San Diego draws demand from biotech, fintech, and mid-size direct-to-consumer brands with growing performance marketing teams.
Are there remote acquisition marketing manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 20% of acquisition marketing manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how naturally the role suits digital collaboration. Campaign management, reporting, and strategy work are the functions most commonly done fully remote, while roles requiring close coordination with creative or product teams tend to stay hybrid.
How can I get hired as a acquisition marketing manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into an acquisition marketing manager role from an adjacent position such as marketing coordinator, paid media specialist, or growth analyst. Large California technology and e-commerce employers regularly bring on associates through rotational marketing programs or new-grad tracks designed to build performance marketing skills. Building a portfolio of hands-on paid media campaigns, even from freelance or internship work, and earning platform certifications in Google Ads or Meta Blueprint gives candidates a concrete edge in California's competitive applicant pool.
