Assistant Store Leader Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a assistant store leader in Minnesota?
Most Minnesota employers hire assistant store leaders from candidates who have completed a two- or four-year business, retail management, or related degree and have prior supervisory experience on the sales floor. There is no state-issued license required for the role in Minnesota. Large Minnesota retailers commonly promote from department lead or key-holder positions, so building tenure in a store operations role and completing any internal leadership development programs offered by the employer is the most reliable path.
Which companies hire assistant store leaders in Minnesota?
Minnesota assistant store leader roles are posted by 7-Eleven, Speedway, and Altar'd State and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Minnesota's dense concentration of corporate retail headquarters in the Twin Cities means many of these employers are also filling leadership roles at their flagship and regional stores across the state.
Which Minnesota cities have the most assistant store leader jobs?
Bloomington, Minneapolis-Saint Paul, and Mankato have the most assistant store leader openings in Minnesota. The Twin Cities dominate because of the region's large suburban retail corridors, corporate headquarters for several national chains, and high population density, while cities like Rochester and Duluth draw postings from regional grocery chains and big-box operators serving those metro communities.
Are there remote assistant store leader jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, but they're rare. About 25% of assistant store leader openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how floor-based and team-facing this role is by nature. The portions of the role most compatible with remote work tend to be administrative tasks like scheduling, reporting, and vendor coordination rather than the core store leadership responsibilities.
How can I get hired as a assistant store leader in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a department lead, key-holder, or shift supervisor role within the same Minnesota store. Target, Cub Foods, and similar large Minnesota retailers regularly promote hourly associates into assistant leadership through structured internal programs. Completing a retail management certificate through a Minnesota community college, such as Hennepin Technical College or Inver Hills, and demonstrating measurable results in scheduling or inventory can accelerate that transition significantly.
Where can I find and apply to assistant store leader jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to assistant store leader jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current Minnesota openings updated regularly. Search the listings to see roles that match your experience and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
