Behavior Technician Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a behavior technician in Minnesota?
The standard path in Minnesota is to earn the Registered Behavior Technician credential, which requires completing a supervised training program and passing the RBT competency assessment administered through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board. Minnesota does not issue a separate state license for behavior technicians, so the RBT credential is the primary qualification employers look for. Most candidates hold at least a high school diploma, and many employers in Minnesota prefer applicants who have completed coursework in psychology, education, or human services.
Which companies hire behavior technicians in Minnesota?
Employers hiring behavior technicians in Minnesota right now include Behavior Frontiers, MN Care Services, and Sevita, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Minnesota's strong network of autism service providers, school districts, and developmental disability organizations means hiring is steady across the Twin Cities and in regional centers like Rochester and Duluth.
Which Minnesota cities have the most behavior technician jobs?
The cities with the most behavior technician openings in Minnesota are Winona, Roseville, and Burnsville. The Twin Cities metro drives the majority of demand because it is home to the largest concentration of ABA clinics, special education programs, and disability service organizations in the state, while Rochester and Duluth generate additional openings through their regional health systems and school districts.
Are there remote behavior technician jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, but they're rare. Behavior technician work is primarily hands-on, requiring direct one-on-one interaction with clients in homes, clinics, or schools. About 0% of behavior technician openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, and those positions typically involve telehealth-based therapy sessions or training and supervision support roles rather than direct in-person service delivery.
How can I get hired as a behavior technician in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is to apply for paraprofessional or direct support professional roles at Minnesota ABA clinics and disability service organizations, which routinely hire candidates without prior experience and provide paid on-the-job RBT training. Fraser and Accord both offer structured onboarding programs for new staff, and Minnesota school districts frequently hire special education paraprofessionals who gain direct experience working alongside BCBAs. Completing your RBT training and background study before applying gives you a clear edge over other entry-level candidates.
Where can I find and apply to behavior technician jobs in Minnesota?
