Billing Analyst Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a billing analyst in Minnesota?
Most billing analyst roles in Minnesota require at minimum an associate degree in accounting, business administration, or healthcare management, with many employers preferring a bachelor's degree. No state-issued license is required, but certifications from national bodies such as the American Academy of Professional Coders or the American Health Information Management Association are widely recognized by Minnesota employers and strengthen candidacy. Gaining familiarity with Epic, which is headquartered in the region and deeply embedded in Minnesota healthcare networks, is a practical advantage.
How much do billing analysts make in Minnesota?
Billing analysts in Minnesota earn a median of about $55,810 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $45,140 for the lowest 10% to over $72,470 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire billing analysts in Minnesota?
Minnesota billing analyst roles are posted by Xcel Energy, Gillette Children's, and Fredrikson & Byron, P.A. and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Minnesota's large integrated health systems and financial services firms generate especially steady demand throughout the year.
Which Minnesota cities have the most billing analyst jobs?
Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Saint Paul account for the largest share of billing analyst openings in Minnesota. The Twin Cities metro drives the bulk of demand through its dense concentration of corporate headquarters, major health systems, and regional insurance carriers, while Rochester's volume is shaped heavily by Mayo Clinic and its affiliated provider network.
Are there remote billing analyst jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, and more than most fields, since billing analyst work is largely desk-based and systems-driven. About 100% of billing analyst openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how well the role adapts to distributed work. The most remote-friendly portions of the job are claims review, accounts receivable follow-up, and reporting, while roles involving direct coordination with clinical departments are more likely to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a billing analyst in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a billing coordinator or patient account representative role at a Minnesota hospital or clinic system, where on-the-job training is common. Large Minnesota employers such as Allina Health, HealthPartners, and M Health Fairview regularly post junior billing and revenue cycle positions that do not require prior analyst experience. Completing a medical billing certificate through a Minnesota community college and gaining basic fluency in Epic or a comparable platform signals readiness to employers and helps candidates move from administrative support roles into analyst tracks.
Where can I find and apply to billing analyst jobs in Minnesota?
