The Role
We're looking for a Brand Designer who builds brands that stop people mid-scroll and keep them consistent across every touchpoint, from a conference booth to an email send. As a key creative hire on our Marketing team, you'll own the visual and brand identity for a company in the middle of a meaningful repositioning. You won't be starting from zero, but you'll have real latitude to evolve what exists and raise the bar. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of brand strategy and hands-on craft. You'll build design systems that are AI-native from the ground up: structured so repeatable work can be automated, delegated to agents, or executed by teammates without your direct involvement. That's not about doing less. It's about freeing yourself up for the creative challenges worth your full attention. We're in-person 5 days a week from our bright, airy offices in the Mission (San Francisco) and Chelsea Market (New York).
- Own Assembled's visual identity within the marketing context: brand system, design language, typography, color, motion, and everything in between
- Design and art-direct core marketing materials: website, email campaigns, event assets, ads, swag, sales collateral, and more
- Build AI-native design systems, including templates, design files, component libraries, and guidelines that AI tools and teammates can execute from reliably
- Automate repeatable production tasks (asset resizing, templated collateral, social variants, email layouts) so your time stays focused on higher-order creative work
- Translate positioning and messaging into creative that resonates with CX and support leaders who are skeptical of hype and respond to clarity
- Lead creative on campaigns, product launches, and events from concept through execution
- Set the creative bar and manage relationships with designers, contractors, and agency partners
What You Bring
- 5 to 8 years of brand design or creative direction experience at a high-growth startup or at an agency working with B2B tech clients
- A portfolio showing range: opinionated brand work and practical, conversion-driven marketing assets
- A genuine AI adopter mindset: you've integrated AI tools into your workflow, you know where they accelerate your work, and you're actively exploring what's next
- Strong strategic instincts and the ability to translate ambiguous inputs into clear creative direction
- Proficiency with the full Adobe and Figma suite; motion/video experience is a plus
- Experience building and documenting design systems that hold up under real-world team usage
- High ownership orientation: you move fast, make judgment calls, and know when to ask for alignment versus just shipping
- Collaborative by default: you take feedback well, give it generously, and bring stakeholders along without designing by committee
Our U.S. Benefits
- Generous medical, dental, and vision benefits
- Paid company holidays, sick time, and unlimited time off
- Monthly credits to spend on each: professional development, general wellness, Assembled customers, and commuting
- Paid parental leave
- Catered lunches every day (M-F) and fully stocked kitchen
- 401(k) plan enrollment
The estimated base salary range for this role is $150,000 - $190,000 per year. The base pay offered may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Stock options are provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
We know great candidates don’t always meet every requirement listed in a job description. If the role excites you and you believe you can make an impact at Assembled, we encourage you to apply. We value diverse perspectives and are committed to building an inclusive workplace where everyone feels like they belong and has the opportunity to do their best work. We look forward to hearing from you!

Brand design in New York has no state-issued license or registration requirement, so the path runs through education and portfolio work. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a closely related field from a four-year program. A strong portfolio demonstrating brand identity systems and real project outcomes is the deciding credential.
How much do brand designers make in New York?
Brand designers in New York earn a median of about $77,340 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $43,680 for the lowest 10% to over $131,250 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire brand designers in New York?

New York have the most brand designer openings in New York. New York City drives the large majority of demand, fueled by its density of advertising agencies, fashion houses, media companies, and corporate headquarters, while Brooklyn has developed a distinct cluster of independent studios and consumer brands that hire consistently at the mid and senior levels.

The most realistic entry path is a junior designer or design associate role at a mid-size New York agency or in-house team, where structured mentorship is more common than at large studios. New York institutions like the School of Visual Arts and Pratt Institute maintain employer networks that connect new graduates directly to local studios. Adjacent roles such as production artist, graphic coordinator, or marketing associate at consumer brands and publishing houses are common lateral entries.
