$82,222.40 - $137,051.20The Senior Data Analyst – Nursing Business & Operations plays a critical role in supporting nursing leadership through advanced analytics related to workforce management, financial performance, productivity, and operational outcomes. Reporting to Sr. Ops Program Director, this position independently develops data solutions that support safe, high-quality patient care and responsible resource utilization in a unionized, Magnet-designated environment.
This role serves as an organizational subject matter expert on nursing data sourcing, workforce analytics, financial performance, and operational metrics. The Senior Data Analyst ensures data integrity, security, and compliance while transforming complex data into clear, actionable insights that inform business decisions. The position also supports internal and external reporting requirements, including benchmarking and regulatory submissions to organizations such as NDNQI®, Magnet®, CHA, and U.S. News & World Report.
The Senior Data Analyst works in close partnership with nursing operational leaders, finance, and HR to ensure accurate, transparent, and meaningful performance reporting.
The Senior Data Analyst – Nursing Business & Operations is strategic analytics partner responsible for transforming workforce, financial, productivity, and operational data into meaningful insights that guide nursing leadership decisions. This role requires more than technical reporting expertise; it requires a strong understanding of nursing operations, healthcare business drivers, staffing models, labor management, and the operational realities that influence patient care delivery and resource utilization.
By connecting data trends to actionable operational strategies, this position supports initiatives that improve staffing efficiency, budget performance, workforce sustainability, productivity, and overall nursing operational performance. The analyst serves as a bridge between data and practice, helping leaders identify risks, understand root causes, evaluate opportunities, and implement data-informed strategies aligned with organizational goals and high-quality patient care.
Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree A Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative or business field (e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science) (Required)
Minimum Work Experience
Requires deep functional knowledge with 4 – 6 years of related experience Or equivalent experience acquired through accomplishments of applicable knowledge, duties, scope and skill reflective of the level of this position.
2-3 years healthcare & nursing experience operations experience is preferred.

- Interprets and analyzes complex data from multiple sources, including patient, provider, encounters data, etc. Proactively identifies and assesses the business impact of trends.
- Develops, executes, maintains, and troubleshoots of complex scripts and reports developed using SQL, Microsoft Excel, or other analytics tools.
- Identifies and performs root-cause analysis of data irregularities and presents findings and proposed solutions to leadership and/or customers.
- Manages multiple complex and variable tasks and data review processes with no supervision within targeted timelines and provides leadership in a demanding, quick changing environment.
- Delivers business solution architecture and implementation validation.
- Engages in data profiling and source to target mapping.
- Works on complex data integration from disparate sources.
- Applies senior level expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how customers interact with analytic products.
- Supports multiple functions and levels of the organization and effectively both verbally and visually, communicates findings and insights to non-technical business partners.
- Engages with customers and business partners to gather requirements and validate results.
- Presents data-driven insights and recommendations to both internal and external stakeholders, soliciting and incorporating feedback when required.

The disclosed salary range includes the minimum and maximum rates within which Children’s National believes an individual’s base pay rate will fall for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the maximum of the pay range. The exact pay rate for this position will be based on a variety of factors in alignment with the Children’s National compensation philosophy. These factors are legitimate and non-discriminatory including, but not limited to, the current market conditions; organizational needs; the individual’s combination of prior work experience, level of education, knowledge, skills, and other qualifications.
