Clinical Program Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical program manager in New York?
Most clinical program managers in New York start with a bachelor's degree in nursing, social work, public health, or healthcare administration, then build several years of direct clinical or care coordination experience. Many roles require or strongly prefer an active New York State license such as an RN, LCSW, or LMHC issued through the New York State Education Department. A master's degree in public health or health administration strengthens candidacy for senior roles at large health systems and managed care organizations.
How much do clinical program managers make in New York?
Clinical program managers in New York earn a median of about $134,680 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $65,440 for the lowest 10% to over $291,780 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire clinical program managers in New York?
Employers hiring clinical program managers in New York right now include NYU Langone Health, Northwell Health, and Columbia University, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's dense concentration of integrated health systems, Medicaid managed care plans, and federally qualified health centers means consistent demand well beyond the best-known names.
Which New York cities have the most clinical program manager jobs?
New York, Rochester, and Bronx have the most clinical program manager openings in New York. New York City dominates due to the scale of its health systems, managed care plans, and city agency programs, while Albany draws openings tied to state government health agencies and regional hospital networks, and Buffalo reflects the hiring footprint of Kaleida Health and Catholic Health.
Are there remote clinical program manager jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than many clinical roles, since program management skews toward coordination, reporting, and stakeholder communication rather than direct patient care. About 9% of clinical program manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting employer flexibility built during and after the pandemic. The functions most likely to stay remote are grant management, data analysis, and payer-facing program coordination.
How can I get hired as a clinical program manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a frontline clinical role, such as care coordinator, case manager, or patient navigator, into a junior program management position within the same organization. Large New York employers including Northwell Health and NYC Health + Hospitals regularly post associate program manager and program coordinator roles designed for clinicians transitioning out of direct care. Earning a project management credential or completing a population health certificate through a CUNY or SUNY program can strengthen an application without prior management experience.
Where can I find and apply to clinical program manager jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to clinical program manager jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings updated regularly. Search the listings to see roles that match your experience level, specialty, and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
