Tips for Your Commercial Account Manager Job Search
Quantify your book of business results
Hiring managers for commercial account manager roles want to see retained revenue, upsell percentages, and renewal rates, not just responsibilities. Pull exact figures from your CRM reports or annual reviews before you update your resume.
Tailor your resume to the vertical
A commercial account manager resume that worked in logistics will not land interviews in SaaS. Swap in industry-specific terminology, name the types of clients you managed, and reference the sales cycle length typical to that sector.
Filter openings by sales cycle type
Some commercial account manager roles are pure hunting, others are 90% renewal and expansion. Read the responsibilities section carefully and target postings where the hunter-farmer balance matches how you actually sell.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists commercial account manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a territory plan for your interview
Many commercial account manager interviews include a whiteboard or take-home exercise asking how you would prioritize a new territory. Sketch out a segmentation approach using company size, industry, and geography before your first-round conversation.
Negotiate total compensation beyond base pay
Commercial account manager offers often have more flexibility in quota structure, commission accelerators, and car or mileage allowances than in base salary. Ask the recruiter how quota is set and what percentage of reps hit their number before you evaluate the offer.
Commercial Account Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most commercial account managers?
The companies hiring the most commercial account managers right now include AutoZone, Alliant Insurance Services, and HUB International, with the largest share of openings in Texas, California, and Ohio, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Demand is particularly concentrated in insurance carriers, regional logistics providers, and B2B SaaS companies targeting mid-market clients.
How many commercial account manager jobs are remote?
About 25% of commercial account manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, though the share varies significantly by industry. Roles focused on renewals and expansion within an existing book of business tend to be more remote-eligible, while new-business hunting roles more often require in-territory presence and regular client visits.
How do you become a commercial account manager?
Most commercial account managers start in inside sales, SDR, or customer success roles to build familiarity with sales cycles and client relationships. From there, moving into a named-account or territory role gives you the quota-carrying experience employers expect. A bachelor's degree in business or a related field helps, and CRM proficiency is expected before most hiring managers will take your application seriously.
Can you get hired as a commercial account manager with little experience?
Yes, especially in industries like insurance, staffing, and telecom that hire into commercial account manager roles at the entry level and provide structured training. Focus your applications on companies with formal sales development programs, and lean on any quota-carrying internship, retail sales, or inside sales experience you do have when framing your resume and cover letter.
What does the commercial account manager interview process look like?
Most processes run three to four rounds: an initial recruiter screen focused on your sales background, a hiring manager interview that digs into specific deals and how you managed client relationships, a territory or account-planning exercise, and a final round with a sales director or cross-functional stakeholder. Some employers also include a mock discovery call or presentation to assess how you communicate value to a client.
Where can I find and apply to commercial account manager jobs?
You can find and apply to commercial account manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Search the listings to find roles that match your industry background, seniority level, and preferred location, then apply directly to each one that fits.
