- Use calm, clear communication and precise documentation so every alert, call, and incident can be tracked and acted on.
- Improve every day by reviewing procedures, updating contact information, and using candid follow-up to strengthen future response.
- Work as one team with guards, engineers, property management, technicians, and internal response groups to keep operations moving.
Qualifications
- University degree and 1 year of suggested minimum experience, or a 2-year degree and 6 years of suggested minimum experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Tips for Your Technical Sales Representative Job Search
Quantify your pipeline contributions precisely
Your resume should show quota attainment, average deal size, and sales cycle length for each role. Hiring managers for technical sales positions weigh these numbers heavily, so pull them from your CRM history before you apply.
Tailor your resume to the vertical
A medical device company and an industrial automation firm both hire technical sales reps, but they want different proof. Mirror the product category and buyer language from each job posting so your experience reads as directly relevant, not generically transferable.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists technical sales representative openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Prepare a technical discovery walkthrough
Many hiring panels include a sales engineer or product lead who will probe your technical depth. Practice walking through a discovery call where you identify a prospect's pain point and connect it to a product feature, using real examples from your current or past role.
Research the company's sales motion before interviewing
Know whether the team sells direct, through channel partners, or via a land-and-expand model before your first interview. Your answers to situational questions need to match how that specific organization closes business, or you'll sound misaligned regardless of your experience.
Negotiate using total compensation, not base alone
Technical sales offers often include variable comp, territory protection, and accelerators. Ask for the on-target earnings structure, the percentage of reps who hit quota, and whether the territory is established or greenfield before you evaluate any offer.
Technical Sales Representative Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most technical sales representatives?
The companies hiring the most technical sales representatives right now include White Cap, CVS Health, and Engineered Air, with the largest share of openings in Texas, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Demand tends to be strongest at companies that sell hardware, software, or scientific equipment to business buyers.
How many technical sales representative jobs are remote?
About 60% of technical sales representative openings are fully remote or hybrid as of September 2026, though field-based roles remain common in industries like industrial equipment and medical devices. SaaS and software-focused technical sales positions tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while capital equipment sales typically require on-site customer visits.
How do you become a technical sales representative?
Start by building a foundation in either a technical discipline or a customer-facing sales role, since hiring managers look for both. Gain product knowledge through roles in technical support, inside sales, or sales engineering. Develop your discovery and consultative selling skills, and target industries where your existing domain expertise gives you credibility with buyers.
Can you get a technical sales representative job with little or no experience?
Yes, entry-level technical sales representative roles exist, particularly at companies that sell software or business tools and offer structured sales training programs. A background in a relevant technical field, even without direct sales experience, can substitute for quota history. Internships in inside sales or solutions consulting are practical ways to build a qualifying record before applying.
What does the technical sales representative interview process look like?
Most processes start with a recruiter screen focused on your sales background and industry fit, followed by a hiring manager interview covering your sales methodology and quota history. Later rounds often include a mock discovery call or product demo with a sales engineer or panel. Final stages typically involve a conversation with a regional director or VP of sales.
Where can I find and apply to technical sales representative jobs?
You can find and apply to technical sales representative jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the United States. Find roles that match your industry experience and target market, then apply directly to each listing that fits.
