Commercial Director Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a commercial director in Oklahoma?
Most commercial director roles in Oklahoma require a bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or a related field, with an MBA preferred by larger employers in energy and aerospace. Oklahoma does not require a state-issued license for this role. Candidates typically advance through progressively senior positions in sales, business development, or operations management, building deep industry knowledge in sectors like oil and gas, defense contracting, or agricultural enterprise before stepping into a director-level seat.
Which companies hire commercial directors in Oklahoma?
Companies currently hiring commercial directors in Oklahoma include CVS Health, BOK Financial, and Westreet credit union, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Oklahoma's energy corridor and aerospace manufacturing base make it a consistent source of commercial director demand at both independent operators and large publicly traded corporations.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most commercial director jobs?
Oklahoma City and Tulsa are the Oklahoma cities with the most commercial director openings. Oklahoma City leads because of its concentration of energy company headquarters, government contracting firms, and regional corporate offices, while Tulsa's industrial and aerospace manufacturing base drives strong demand for commercial leadership across both large employers and mid-market suppliers.
Are there remote commercial director jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely analytical roles, since commercial directors are frequently expected to be on-site for client negotiations, leadership meetings, and cross-functional collaboration. About 100% of commercial director openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting that some companies allow flexibility for the strategic and reporting portions of the role while keeping the client-facing responsibilities in person.
How can I get hired as a commercial director in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into a commercial director role from a senior individual contributor position such as account executive, business development manager, or commercial analyst, particularly within Oklahoma's energy, aerospace, or agricultural sectors. Large Oklahoma employers like Devon Energy and ONEOK often post associate commercial or contract management roles that serve as structured entry points into commercial leadership. Building expertise in contract negotiation, CRM tools, and financial modeling, combined with an MBA from an Oklahoma institution, strengthens a candidate's profile considerably.
