The Analytics and Performance Excellence (APEX) function supports AbbVie’s US organization and is comprised of highly regarded researchers, analysts, data scientists and strategists who are committed to being best-in-class within the biopharmaceutical industry. We serve as a strategic in-house counsel, ensuring that all decisions leverage the key insights that we develop. We continue to build new capabilities and skill sets, encouraging our team members to pull up a chair, be themselves, be creative, speak their minds, and do good work. We are a passionate, diverse, flexible, and inclusive organization with a culture that supports the best ideas, wherever they originate. Role Summary
Manager, Analytics Products is the single-threaded product owner for a defined subset of AbbVie's Omnichannel analytics portfolio — a suite of capabilities spanning omnichannel marketing strategy, planning, execution, and measurement. Operating within the APEX Enterprise Advanced Analytics and Innovation team, this role holds full accountability for the business value of its assigned products. Reporting to the Associate Director, Analytics Products, the SM partners closely with Data Science, Marketing, Digital Lab, BTS, APEX Business Units, and external partners to ensure Omnichannel analytics solutions are impactful, adopted, and continuously improving. This is an outcome-oriented role combining applied AI/ML expertise with a product ownership mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for a subset of Omnichannel analytics capabilities, ensuring alignment from strategy through execution.
- Define the problem space — articulating business outcomes, user needs, scope, and the product backlog — while partnering with Data Science, Data Transformation, and BTS on technical delivery.
- Manage the full APEX product lifecycle across 1–2 assigned Omnichannel initiatives, from Intake and Solutioning through Prioritization, Build & Validate, Delivery & Adoption, and Measure & Enhance.
- Drive value-based prioritization, making disciplined trade-off decisions on scope, features, and timelines based on business impact, with clear acceptance criteria for deliverables.
- Define and track success metrics, including adoption and business impact, and support closed-loop measurement frameworks to assess end-to-end promotional effectiveness.
- Partner with Marketing, Digital Lab, BTS, APEX Business Units, and external vendors to co-develop analytics solutions that deliver quantifiable value across HCP and patient journeys.
- Represent assigned analytics products in Product Council forums as the authoritative voice on product direction and trade-offs, feeding updates to the AD for Steering Committee visibility.
- Engage stakeholders consultatively, shifting conversations from feature requests to problem definitions, user outcomes, and measurable results.
- Communicate insights and strategy clearly — creating compelling roadmap presentations and recommendations for senior cross-functional audiences.
Supervisory / Management Responsibilities
This role does not carry formal direct report responsibilities at this time.
Key Competencies
- Outcome-oriented: Defines success metrics, measures product impact, and holds teams accountable to results — not delivery milestones.
- Curiosity-driven discovery: Actively seeks out unmet needs and untapped AI/ML opportunities through networking and exploration, rather than waiting for requests to arrive.
- Influence without authority: Builds alignment across Marketing, Data Science, Engineering, BTS, and partners through credibility and strategic framing.
- Disciplined prioritization: Makes and defends scope and trade-off decisions based on business impact, urgency, and technical feasibility.
- Strong communication: Presents complex analytics concepts and product strategies to senior audiences with clarity.
- Consultative problem-framing: Translates ambiguous business challenges into well-scoped product opportunities with measurable outcomes.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Builds trust across diverse stakeholder groups while maintaining clear decision rights per the APEX governance model.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Economics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field. Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PhD) preferred.
Required Experience
- 5+ years in marketing analytics, digital analytics, or commercial analytics in biopharma, healthcare, or life sciences.
- 3+ years as a product owner or product manager for analytics, data, or technology products, with full lifecycle ownership.
- 3+ years in omni-channel analytics, engagement analytics, journey analytics, or closed-loop measurement.
- 3+ years defining data and technology requirements in collaboration with data science, engineering, or technology teams.
- 3+ years measuring commercial effectiveness via promotional response analysis, closed-loop measurement, A/B testing, or quasi-experimental methods.
- 2+ years hands-on building AI/ML prototypes, proofs-of-concept, or MVPs.
- Demonstrated ability to independently stand up a working demo or prototype from an ambiguous business idea with minimal upfront specification.
- Hands-on experience with data science tools (Python, R, SQL) and ability to engage technically with data science and technology partners.
Preferred Experience
- Agile product development experience: backlog management, sprint planning, user story writing, and acceptance criteria.
- Familiarity with pharma data sources (Symphony Health, IQVIA, or equivalent prescription, patient, and omnichannel marketing data).
- Experience designing and delivering executive-ready demos and presentations that translate technical AI/ML capabilities into business language for non-technical audiences.
- Background in data visualization or design (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Figma) to elevate the clarity and impact of prototypes and stakeholder-facing materials.
- Experience working with Agentic Coding Tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, Antigravity).

Tailor your portfolio to pharma data
AbbVie's Analytics Engineer roles frequently involve clinical trial data, HEOR datasets, and commercial sales pipelines. Showcase projects where you've built or maintained data models in regulated or compliance-heavy environments, not just general SaaS or e-commerce contexts.
Target roles with PERM eligibility signals
AbbVie files PERM labor certifications for certain Analytics Engineer positions, which opens a Green Card pathway. When reviewing job postings, look for language about long-term career development or internal mobility, which often signals the company is open to sponsoring immigrant visa categories.
Align your degree field to the job description
H-1B specialty occupation approval depends on your degree matching the role. For Analytics Engineer positions at AbbVie, degrees in computer science, data science, biostatistics, or information systems carry the strongest alignment. A mismatched degree can trigger a USCIS Request for Evidence.
Engage recruiters before H-1B cap season
USCIS H-1B registrations open in March for an October 1 start. Targeting AbbVie roles in the fourth quarter of the prior year gives you time to clear interviews, receive an offer, and have your employer submit a registration before the window closes.
Confirm E-3 or TN eligibility with your recruiter early
If you're an Australian citizen, the E-3 avoids the H-1B lottery entirely and can be processed at a U.S. consulate in weeks. Canadian and Mexican nationals may qualify for TN status. Raise your citizenship at the offer stage so AbbVie's immigration team can route your petition correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does AbbVie sponsor H-1B visas for Analytics Engineers?
Yes, AbbVie sponsors H-1B visas for Analytics Engineer roles. The company works with immigration counsel to file H-1B petitions and has supported sponsorship across multiple visa categories for this function. If you're in the H-1B lottery pool on F-1 OPT, AbbVie can file your cap-subject petition for an October 1 start date, provided your OPT authorization covers the gap.
How do I apply for Analytics Engineer jobs at AbbVie?
Apply directly through AbbVie's careers portal at abbvie.com/careers. Search for Analytics Engineer by title and filter by location or business unit. You can also use Migrate Mate to browse AbbVie's open Analytics Engineer roles filtered by visa sponsorship type, which helps you identify positions already aligned to your status before you apply.
Which visa types does AbbVie commonly sponsor for Analytics Engineers?
AbbVie sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, E-3 visa, and TN visas for Analytics Engineer roles, along with supporting F-1 OPT and CPT for students in active degree programs. For candidates seeking permanent residency, AbbVie has filed EB-2 and EB-3 petitions through the PERM labor certification process for this function, giving long-term pathway options beyond nonimmigrant status.
What qualifications does AbbVie expect for Analytics Engineer roles?
AbbVie Analytics Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, data science, biostatistics, or a related technical field. Hands-on experience with dbt, SQL, and cloud data platforms such as Snowflake or Azure is commonly expected. Familiarity with pharmaceutical or life sciences data, including clinical or commercial datasets, differentiates candidates in a competitive pool.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take at AbbVie for this role?
Timeline depends on visa type. E-3 and TN petitions can be completed in two to six weeks through consular processing. Cap-subject H-1B petitions follow USCIS's fixed calendar, with registration in March and an earliest start date of October 1. PERM labor certification for Green Card sponsorship typically takes 12 to 18 months before the I-140 immigrant petition stage begins.
