Tips for Finding Consultant Jobs at AutoNation
Frame your credentials around specialty occupation standards
Consultant roles at AutoNation need to clear USCIS's specialty occupation bar. Document that your position requires a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a field like business, finance, or management information systems, not just general experience.
Target AutoNation's dealer operations consulting teams
AutoNation staffs Consultants across dealer performance, F&I compliance, and digital retail transformation. Roles tied to measurable dealership outcomes tend to have clearer specialty occupation footprints, which strengthens the visa petition your employer files.
Clarify sponsorship scope before signing an offer
AutoNation sponsors H-1B and TN visas for Consultant roles, but coverage varies by business unit and hiring manager. Confirm in writing whether your offer includes H-1B cap filing, premium processing, and legal fee coverage before you accept.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Consultant roles
AutoNation lists dozens of Consultant positions across locations at any given time. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for roles where visa sponsorship is confirmed, so you're not spending time on applications that won't move forward.
Time your application around the H-1B cap cycle
If you're on F-1 OPT, AutoNation can file your H-1B petition in April for an October 1 start. Work backward from that window: extend your OPT early if needed, and flag your status to the recruiter in the first conversation, not after an offer.
Verify TN eligibility if you hold Canadian or Mexican citizenship
TN status under the USMCA covers Management Consultants for Canadian and Mexican nationals and doesn't involve a lottery or cap. If your Consultant role at AutoNation clearly fits the DOL's Management Consultant definition, TN can be a faster path than H-1B.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does AutoNation sponsor H-1B visas for Consultants?
Yes, AutoNation sponsors H-1B visas for Consultant roles where the position qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines. This typically means the role requires a specific bachelor's degree in a field like business, finance, or a related discipline. Sponsorship availability can vary by business unit, so confirm the details directly with your recruiter during the offer stage.
How do I apply for Consultant jobs at AutoNation?
You can apply through AutoNation's careers portal, which lists open Consultant positions across corporate functions and dealer support teams. Migrate Mate also aggregates AutoNation's Consultant openings and filters for roles that include visa sponsorship, which saves time if you're specifically looking for positions that support international candidates.
Which visa types does AutoNation commonly use for Consultant roles?
AutoNation has sponsored H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for Consultant positions. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates, while H-1B is the standard long-term path. Canadian and Mexican nationals in management consulting roles may qualify for TN status under the USMCA, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely.
What qualifications does AutoNation expect for Consultant roles?
AutoNation Consultant roles typically require a bachelor's degree in business, finance, operations, or a related field, along with experience in process improvement, dealer operations, or enterprise consulting. Roles tied to digital retail transformation or F&I compliance may also expect familiarity with automotive software platforms or regulatory frameworks. Advanced degrees or prior automotive industry experience can strengthen your candidacy.
How do I manage visa timing when pursuing a Consultant role at AutoNation?
If you're on F-1 OPT, flag your work authorization end date to the recruiter early. AutoNation can file an H-1B petition in April for an October 1 cap start date, but you need an approved offer well before the registration window opens in March. If your OPT expires before October, a STEM OPT extension, if you're eligible, can bridge the gap and keep you authorized through the transition.
