Verify Your CNA Credential Transfers Across States
Nursing Assistant certification is state-specific, and Ensign Services operates facilities in multiple states. Confirm your CNA license is valid or transferable in the state where the role is posted before applying, since an unverified credential stalls sponsorship paperwork before it starts.
Target Facilities in Underserved Rural Markets
Ensign Services runs many facilities in rural and suburban markets where local CNA pipelines run thin. These locations are more likely to initiate sponsorship because they face genuine staffing pressure, giving you more negotiating leverage than a facility in a competitive urban area.
Ask Recruiters Directly About EB-3 Timelines
For Nursing Assistant roles, EB-3 is the most common Green Card pathway. Ask the recruiter whether the facility has completed PERM labor certifications before and who manages the DOL filing. Facilities with prior experience move significantly faster than those starting from scratch.
Align OPT End Dates With Onboarding Timelines
If you're on F-1 OPT, map your remaining work authorization window against Ensign's onboarding timeline. CNA roles typically require facility orientation and state compliance checks, which can take several weeks. Starting that conversation before your OPT expires gives the employer time to file a timely extension or H-1B petition.
Search Open Nursing Assistant Roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Nursing Assistant openings at Ensign Services by visa type. This lets you quickly identify which locations are actively hiring for your specific status rather than cold-applying across the full job board.
Confirm E-Verify Enrollment Before Accepting an Offer
Ensign Services operates in states that require E-Verify participation for healthcare employers. Before accepting any offer, confirm the specific facility is enrolled in E-Verify, since your I-9 work authorization verification depends on it and delays at this stage can affect your start date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Ensign Services sponsor H-1B visas for Nursing Assistants?
Ensign Services does sponsor H-1B visas, but H-1B eligibility for Nursing Assistant roles depends on USCIS confirming the position qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree. Most CNA roles do not meet this threshold. Candidates with additional clinical credentials or pursuing roles with expanded responsibilities may have a stronger case, but the more common pathway for Nursing Assistants at Ensign is the EB-3 employment-based Green Card.
How do I apply for Nursing Assistant jobs at Ensign Services?
Applications for Nursing Assistant roles at Ensign Services go through the individual facility's hiring process. You can find open positions filtered by visa sponsorship type on Migrate Mate, which lets you identify locations actively hiring international candidates. Once you apply, expect a phone screen followed by an in-person or virtual interview with the facility director of nursing, then a conditional offer pending background check and state credential verification.
Which visa types are commonly used for Nursing Assistant roles at Ensign Services?
The most practical visa pathways for Nursing Assistants at Ensign Services are F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN visa (for Canadian and Mexican nationals with qualifying credentials), and EB-3 for a permanent Green Card. The EB-3 route involves PERM labor certification through DOL, which Ensign initiates on your behalf after a full-time offer is made. OPT and TN visa are faster options for those who already hold valid work authorization.
What qualifications does Ensign Services expect for Nursing Assistant positions?
Ensign Services expects candidates to hold a current, state-specific Certified Nursing Assistant license for the state where the facility is located. Prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facilities is preferred over acute hospital experience, since Ensign's facilities are primarily post-acute and senior care settings. Basic Life Support certification and a clean background check are standard requirements across all Ensign facilities.
How long does the sponsorship process take for a Nursing Assistant at Ensign Services?
Timeline depends heavily on the visa type. F-1 OPT authorization is typically in place before you start. TN status for qualified Canadian and Mexican nationals can be obtained at the border or port of entry on the same day. The EB-3 Green Card pathway through PERM involves DOL prevailing wage determination, a supervised recruitment period, and USCIS petition review, which combined can take two to four years depending on your country of birth and current USCIS processing times.
