Verify your credentials meet state licensing requirements
Before applying, confirm your nursing license is valid in the state where the Ensign Services facility is located. License transfer timelines vary by state and can delay your start date, which affects when your employer can file your visa petition.
Target Ensign Services facilities with active openings
Ensign Services operates facilities across multiple states, and sponsorship decisions are made at the facility or regional level. Focus your applications on locations with current Nursing postings rather than submitting a general inquiry to corporate.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Nursing jobs by visa type
Not every Ensign Services listing will specify sponsorship availability upfront. Use Migrate Mate to filter Nursing openings by the visa types Ensign Services supports so you're only investing time in roles where sponsorship is on the table.
Ask HR which visa pathway they intend to file
Ensign Services sponsors multiple visa categories for Nursing roles. Once you receive an offer, ask directly whether they plan to file H-1B, pursue EB-3 PERM, or use another pathway. The answer affects your timeline and how you plan your current work authorization.
Prepare your credential evaluation documents early
If your nursing degree is from outside the U.S., USCIS and DOL both require a credential evaluation as part of the sponsorship process. Ordering this evaluation before you have an offer means it's ready when your employer needs it, preventing delays at the filing stage.
Understand how PERM labor certification affects your timeline
EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship requires the employer to complete PERM labor certification through DOL before filing your immigrant visa petition. This process can take a year or more, so factor that into your planning if permanent residency is your goal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Ensign Services sponsor H-1B visas for Nursings?
Yes, Ensign Services has sponsored H-1B visas for Nursing roles. Because H-1B approvals for nursing positions require demonstrating the role qualifies as a specialty occupation, the strength of your application depends heavily on the specific position, your degree field, and how the job duties are documented. Confirming this with the hiring team before accepting an offer is worthwhile.
How do I apply for Nursing jobs at Ensign Services?
You can apply directly through the Ensign Services careers site, which lists openings by facility and location. For the fastest way to filter roles where visa sponsorship is supported, browse Nursing positions at Ensign Services through Migrate Mate, which surfaces listings by visa type so you can focus on opportunities that match your work authorization needs.
Which visa types does Ensign Services commonly use for Nursing roles?
Ensign Services has supported Nursing candidates through H-1B, EB-2, EB-3, TN visa, F-1 OPT, and F-1 CPT pathways. EB-3 is a common route for nurses seeking permanent residency, while H-1B and TN visa cover temporary work authorization. The pathway offered will depend on the role, your nationality, and the facility's current sponsorship approach.
What qualifications does Ensign Services expect for sponsored Nursing roles?
Ensign Services typically expects candidates to hold a relevant nursing degree, an active or pending state nursing license, and clinical experience appropriate to the role. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree must align with the position's specialty occupation requirements under USCIS standards. Roles in skilled nursing facilities may also require specific certifications such as CNA or RN credentials.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for Nursing positions at Ensign Services?
Timeline depends on the visa type. H-1B petitions follow USCIS processing schedules, with premium processing available to reduce wait times to 15 business days. EB-3 PERM cases involve DOL labor certification, which can take 12 to 18 months before USCIS even receives the immigrant petition. F-1 OPT and TN arrangements move faster. Align your current work authorization runway with the expected filing timeline before accepting an offer.
