Get Your Nursing Credentials Evaluated Early
CGFNS or an equivalent credential evaluation is a prerequisite for many state nursing licenses and employer sponsorship decisions. Start this process before you apply, as review timelines can delay your NCLEX eligibility and push back your start date.
Target Prime Locations With Active Openings
Prime operates hospitals across California, Texas, and several other states with distinct licensing requirements. Focusing your applications on states where you already hold or can quickly obtain licensure increases your chances of clearing the employer's pre-offer checklist.
Understand How TN Status Applies to Nurses
TN visa classification covers Registered Nurses for Canadian and Mexican citizens. If you qualify, this route bypasses PERM labor certification entirely. Confirm with Prime's HR team upfront whether TN is available for your specific role and work location.
Ask About PERM Timing Before Accepting an Offer
EB-3 sponsorship for nursing roles requires PERM labor certification through DOL, which adds months to the process. Clarify during the offer stage whether Prime initiates PERM at hire or after a probationary period so your timeline expectations are aligned.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Verified Nursing Openings
Not every Prime posting publicly signals visa sponsorship eligibility. Use Migrate Mate to browse nursing roles at Prime that are specifically tagged for sponsorship, so you apply only to positions where your immigration situation is already accounted for.
Confirm Your OPT Work Authorization Covers Nursing
F-1 OPT is only valid when your role directly aligns with your degree field. If your degree is in nursing or a closely related healthcare discipline, document that alignment clearly in your application. USCIS and your DSO will need this connection supported for OPT authorization to hold.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Prime Healthcare Services sponsor H-1B visas for Nurses?
Nursing roles generally do not qualify for H-1B visa sponsorship because H-1B requires a specialty occupation typically demanding a U.S. bachelor's degree in a specific field, and most registered nurse positions do not meet that standard. Prime Healthcare Services primarily supports nurses through EB-2, EB-3, and TN visa pathways instead.
Which visa types does Prime Healthcare Services commonly use for Nursing roles?
Prime Healthcare Services sponsors nursing candidates through EB-3 immigrant visas most frequently, which involves PERM labor certification filed through DOL. Canadian and Mexican citizens may qualify for TN visa status as registered nurses without going through the PERM process. F-1 OPT and CPT are also accepted for eligible nursing graduates in their authorization period.
What qualifications does Prime Healthcare Services expect for sponsored Nursing positions?
Most roles require an active Registered Nurse license in the relevant state, completion of the NCLEX-RN, and in many cases a credential evaluation through CGFNS for internationally trained candidates. Acute care or hospital-based experience is commonly listed in job requirements, with some specialized units expecting additional certifications such as BLS or ACLS.
How do I apply for Nursing jobs at Prime Healthcare Services?
You can browse nursing openings at Prime Healthcare Services that are open to visa sponsorship directly through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by sponsorship eligibility. Once you identify a relevant opening, apply through Prime's careers portal and flag your visa status clearly in your application. Follow up with the recruiter to confirm the sponsorship process before accepting any offer.
How do I plan my timeline for EB-3 sponsorship through Prime Healthcare Services?
EB-3 sponsorship involves DOL PERM labor certification, I-140 petition filing with USCIS, and then waiting for a visa number to become current based on your country of chargeability. From PERM initiation to receiving your Green Card can range from one year to significantly longer depending on your birth country. Start conversations with Prime's HR team about sponsorship intent as early as the offer stage.
