Target engineering and design roles first
Figma's sponsorship activity is concentrated in technical and product-facing roles. Focus your applications on software engineering, product design, and UX research positions where Figma has a consistent history of sponsoring international candidates.
Understand which visa types Figma supports
Figma sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, and immigrant visa pathways including Green Cards. Knowing this upfront lets you tailor your outreach, Australians on E-3 and F-1 OPT graduates transitioning to H-1B are both well-supported visa types here.
Apply ahead of H-1B cap season
For H-1B sponsorship, timing matters. Figma typically files for cap-subject petitions in March for an October 1 start. Securing an offer by late winter gives the company time to prepare your petition before the registration window opens.
Highlight domain expertise in collaborative or developer tooling
Figma hires for a specialized product space. Candidates who demonstrate experience with design systems, developer workflows, or SaaS tooling are more likely to clear the specialty occupation bar that supports H-1B and E-3 sponsorship at the company.
Ask about Green Card sponsorship during the offer stage
Figma has a strong track record of sponsoring Green Cards, not just work visas. When negotiating your offer, it's reasonable to ask about the company's typical timeline for initiating PERM or EB-1 sponsorship after you join.
Use Migrate Mate to surface verified Figma openings
Figma posts roles across multiple channels, but not all listings confirm sponsorship availability. Migrate Mate surfaces verified sponsors so you can filter by real sponsorship history and focus only on roles where international hiring is confirmed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Figma sponsor H-1B visas?
Yes, Figma sponsors H-1B visas and has done so consistently across engineering, design, and product roles. The company participates in the annual H-1B cap lottery for new applicants and also supports H-1B transfers for candidates already holding the visa. Roles in software engineering and technical product management represent the most common sponsorship pathway.
Which visa types does Figma sponsor?
Figma sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, and E-3 visas for nonimmigrant work authorization, making it a viable option for a wide range of international candidates including Australians and nationals from H-1B1 treaty countries. The company also sponsors permanent residence through EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, reflecting a long-term investment in its international workforce.
How do I know if a Figma job listing includes visa sponsorship?
Most of Figma's job listings don't explicitly state which visa types are supported. The most reliable approach is to check Figma's verified sponsorship history using Migrate Mate, which tracks real filing data so you can see which roles and teams have historically received sponsorship before you apply.
Which departments at Figma are most likely to offer visa sponsorship?
Sponsorship at Figma is most common in technical roles across software engineering, product design, UX research, and data science. These functions align with specialty occupation requirements under H-1B and E-3 rules. Business and operations roles are sponsored less frequently, though Green Card sponsorship has appeared across a broader range of departments.
How do I approach the Figma application process as a visa-sponsored candidate?
Treat the visa question as a logistics issue, not a disqualifier. Figma is an active sponsor with established immigration processes in place. Apply through official channels, lead with your technical qualifications, and raise sponsorship during the offer stage rather than in the initial application. Being specific about your current status, whether F-1 OPT, E-3, or H-1B transfer, helps Figma's HR team assess your timeline accurately.
