INTRODUCTION
Figma is growing our team of passionate creatives and builders on a mission to make design accessible to all. Figma’s platform helps teams bring ideas to life—whether you're brainstorming, creating a prototype, translating designs into code, or iterating with AI. From idea to product, Figma empowers teams to streamline workflows, move faster, and work together in real time from anywhere in the world. If you're excited to shape the future of design and collaboration, join us!
Monetization strategy has become one of the most important and dynamic areas of our business, and we're looking for a senior business leader to own it. As Director, Monetization Strategy on our Business Operations team, you'll set and drive Figma's monetization strategy across pricing, packaging, our AI credit and consumption models, and the evolution of our business model itself. You'll lead a small, high-leverage team and quarterback decisions that reach the CFO, CPO, and CEO. This is a role for a broad, strategic operator who brings structure to ambiguous, company-defining problems and drives them to resolution — not a pricing specialist. This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
What you'll do at Figma:
- Own Figma's monetization strategy, leading the development and execution of pricing, packaging, and business model initiatives
- Drive cross-functional decision-making on high-impact strategic opportunities, partnering with executive stakeholders to align on direction and outcomes
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, raising the bar for strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and executive communication
- Partner with Product, Finance, Engineering, and GTM teams to translate monetization strategies into product, operational, and commercial outcomes
- Define monetization approaches for emerging areas of the business, including AI-powered experiences, consumption-based offerings, APIs, and acquisitions
- Influence company planning by bringing a monetization perspective to long-term strategy, investment decisions, and growth opportunities
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- 12+ years of experience spanning strategy consulting, private equity operations, business operations, product strategy, growth, revenue strategy, or related functions within high-growth technology companies
- Demonstrated success developing business strategies and driving executive decisions on complex, ambiguous, and high-impact business challenges
- Experience shaping monetization strategies, including pricing, packaging, business model design, or consumption-based offerings
- Experience leading and developing high-performing teams and influencing senior stakeholders across multiple functions
- Strong business, financial, and analytical acumen, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly to executive audiences
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
While it's not required, it's an added plus if you also have:
- Developed usage-based or consumption-based pricing strategies
- Built financial models to support strategic decision-making and investment planning
- Utilized SQL or similar analytical tools to evaluate business performance and customer behavior
COMPENSATION

Frame your background around product-led growth
Figma's Strategy roles sit at the intersection of product, market, and competitive intelligence. Tailor your resume and portfolio to show experience with SaaS growth loops, PLG metrics, or B2B expansion strategy rather than generic corporate strategy work.
Target roles that map to your visa category
Figma sponsors H-1B, E-3, and H-1B1 visas for Strategy positions, but the process differs by category. If you're Australian, the E-3 path moves faster and avoids the H-1B lottery entirely, which matters if your OPT or current status has a tight runway.
Search verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Filter Strategy openings at Figma using Migrate Mate to confirm active sponsorship for your specific visa type before you apply, saving you from pursuing roles where your visa category isn't supported.
Initiate LCA conversations before extending your offer timeline
Figma's recruiting team files a Labor Condition Application with DOL before your H-1B petition can be submitted to USCIS. Ask your recruiter early where you are in that queue so a delayed LCA certification doesn't compress your start date.
Highlight cross-functional leadership in design or developer tooling
Strategy candidates who've worked directly with product or engineering teams on developer tools, design systems, or API-driven products align more closely with Figma's core business and tend to clear the specialty occupation bar more cleanly during H-1B adjudication.
Protect your status window if you're between jobs
If you're on F-1 OPT or in a 60-day grace period, confirm Figma's typical offer-to-start timeline with your recruiter before signing. USCIS requires your petition to be filed while you're maintaining valid status, so back-calculate from your status expiration date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Figma sponsor H-1B visas for Strategys?
Yes, Figma sponsors H-1B visas for Strategy roles. Strategy positions typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards because they require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as business, economics, or finance. Figma has a consistent record of filing H-1B petitions for this function, including both cap-subject petitions and transfers for candidates already holding H-1B status.
How do I apply for Strategy jobs at Figma?
Apply through Figma's careers page and flag your visa sponsorship needs during the recruiter screen rather than waiting until the offer stage. Strategy roles at Figma are competitive and often require a case study or structured problem-solving exercise. If you want to confirm that a specific opening supports your visa type before applying, browse verified listings on Migrate Mate to filter by sponsorship category.
Which visa types does Figma commonly sponsor for Strategy roles?
Figma sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, and E-3 visas for Strategy positions, along with supporting F-1 OPT extensions and Green Card sponsorship through the EB-2 and EB-3 employment-based categories. The right pathway depends on your nationality and current status. Australians working in Strategy are often well-suited for the E-3, which has no lottery and allows two-year renewable periods.
What qualifications does Figma look for in Strategy candidates requiring sponsorship?
Figma's Strategy roles typically require a bachelor's degree or higher in business, economics, finance, or a related analytical field, with demonstrable experience in product strategy, market analysis, or go-to-market planning within technology companies. For USCIS specialty occupation purposes, the degree field needs to align with the specific role. Candidates with experience in SaaS, developer tooling, or design software ecosystems tend to stand out in Figma's hiring process.
How do I time my application around the H-1B cap and Figma's hiring cycle?
The H-1B cap registration window opens in March each year, with an October 1 start date if selected. Figma typically recruits for Strategy roles on a rolling basis, but aligning your application to land an offer by February gives time for internal approvals and DOL Labor Condition Application certification before USCIS registration opens. If you miss the cap cycle, ask whether Figma can support a cap-exempt pathway or an E-3 if you hold Australian citizenship.
