Frame your credentials around Google's scale
Google's hiring committees look for operational experience at scale, not just process improvement. Quantify the scope of programs you've managed and emphasize cross-functional coordination across large, matrixed organizations to match the level they're hiring at.
Build your pipeline using verified sponsorship data
Search for open Business Operations Manager roles at Google on Migrate Mate, which filters job listings by confirmed visa sponsorship history so you apply to positions where sponsorship is already established practice.
Understand Google's internal transfer and cap-exempt pathways
If you're currently working at a university, nonprofit, or government contractor, certain H-1B transfers to Google may be cap-exempt. Confirm your eligibility with an immigration attorney before assuming you need to enter a new lottery cycle.
Time your offer acceptance around USCIS filing windows
H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer outside this window, negotiate a start date that aligns with the next filing cycle rather than declining or deferring without a plan.
Prepare a specialty occupation case for your specific role
USCIS scrutinizes Business Operations roles closely because they can appear generalist. Work with your immigration attorney to document that the role requires a specialized degree in a specific field, using Google's job description as the primary exhibit.

Find Business Operations Manager at Google JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Business Operations Managers?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Business Operations Manager roles. Because Business Operations positions can attract USCIS scrutiny as generalist roles, your petition will need to clearly establish that the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific specialty field. Google's legal team handles this, but being prepared to articulate how your degree directly applies to the role strengthens your case.
How do I apply for Business Operations Manager jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal at careers.google.com. Roles are posted by team and location, so filtering by function and office is essential since Business Operations Manager openings span product, engineering, sales, and go-to-market teams. For a curated view of open roles where Google has an active sponsorship track record, browse listings on Migrate Mate to identify the right positions before applying directly.
Which visa types does Google commonly use for Business Operations Managers?
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1, and E-3 visas for Business Operations Manager roles. The H-1B is the most common path for most nationalities and is subject to the annual lottery. H-1B1 is available to Chilean and Singaporean nationals, and the E-3 is exclusive to Australian citizens. Both H-1B1 and E-3 bypass the H-1B lottery, which can significantly shorten your path to starting work.
What qualifications does Google expect for Business Operations Manager roles?
Google typically looks for a bachelor's degree in business, operations, economics, engineering, or a related field, with a strong preference for candidates who have experience in program or project management within large, complex organizations. MBA credentials are common among candidates who advance to offer stage. Demonstrated ability to drive operational improvements using data, and experience working across engineering or product teams, is a consistent differentiator.
How do I understand the visa sponsorship timeline for a Google Business Operations Manager offer?
If your role requires a new H-1B cap-subject petition, USCIS registration opens in March and work authorization begins October 1 at the earliest. E-3 and H-1B1 holders can typically start sooner since those categories don't require lottery selection. Once Google initiates the process, DOL must certify a Labor Condition Application before USCIS can adjudicate the petition, so build at least 60 to 90 days into your expected start date.
