Frame Your Portfolio Around Technical Program Scope
Google's Program Development Manager roles consistently require demonstrable experience managing complex, multi-team technical programs. Before applying, document specific examples of end-to-end program ownership across engineering or product functions, not just coordination work.
Research Which Google Teams File E-3 or H-1B1
Google sponsors H-1B, H-1B1 visa, and E-3 visas for this role. If you're Australian or from Singapore or Chile, targeting teams with E-3 or H-1B1 precedent means your petition avoids the H-1B lottery entirely and can be filed year-round.
Time Your Application Around Google's Hiring Cycles
Google's large-scale recruiting for program management roles follows predictable cadences aligned to headcount planning. Applying in Q4 or early Q1 positions you for offers that can feed into the April H-1B filing window without a rushed timeline.
Find Sponsoring Google Roles Through Migrate Mate
Filter specifically for Program Development Manager openings at Google that include confirmed visa sponsorship using Migrate Mate. This removes guesswork about which requisitions are open to international candidates before you invest time in the application process.
Verify Your LCA Covers Your Actual Work Location
Google operates across multiple U.S. offices and allows hybrid arrangements. DOL requires a separate Labor Condition Application for each worksite, so confirm with your recruiter that the LCA filed reflects where you'll physically work to avoid compliance issues later.
Prepare for a Specialty Occupation Review of Your Credentials
USCIS scrutinizes Program Development Manager petitions where the degree field isn't an obvious match to the role. A degree in computer science, engineering, or information systems strengthens your case considerably compared to a general business background.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Google sponsor H-1B visas for Program Development Managers?
Yes, Google sponsors H-1B visas for Program Development Managers. The role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards given its requirement for a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant technical or analytical field. Google also sponsors H-1B1 visa and E-3 visas for eligible nationals, which bypass the H-1B lottery and can be filed at any point in the year.
How do I apply for Program Development Manager jobs at Google?
Applications go through Google's careers portal at careers.google.com. Search for Program Development Manager or similar titles like Technical Program Manager. Tailor your resume to reflect large-scale program ownership, cross-functional stakeholder management, and measurable delivery outcomes. You can also browse open roles with confirmed visa sponsorship through Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for international candidate-friendly positions at Google.
Which visa types does Google commonly use for Program Development Manager roles?
Google uses H-1B most commonly for this role, but also files H-1B1 visa petitions for candidates from Singapore and Chile, and E-3 petitions for Australian citizens. H-1B1 and E-3 are particularly advantageous because they have their own annual allocations, face no lottery, and can be processed on a rolling basis rather than tied to the April cap-subject filing window.
What qualifications does Google expect for a Program Development Manager with visa sponsorship?
Google typically looks for a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, business, or a related technical field, combined with several years of experience managing cross-functional technical programs at scale. For visa sponsorship purposes, your degree field should align closely with the role's core responsibilities, since USCIS evaluates whether the position genuinely requires specialized academic preparation in a specific discipline.
How do I plan my timeline if I need Google to sponsor my H-1B?
If you need an H-1B, Google must submit your registration during the USCIS lottery window in March, with employment starting no earlier than October 1 of that year. That means you ideally need an offer in hand by February at the latest. If you're cap-exempt through a university or nonprofit affiliation, or eligible for E-3 or H-1B1 visa, the timeline is more flexible and doesn't depend on the annual lottery.
