We are just beginning to unlock what is possible, and we are looking for an engineering leader who is eager to define that future.
We are seeking someone with deep experience building and scaling agentic systems and AI-enabled products. You will shape how Customer Agent evolves into a highly extensible and reliable platform. You will guide system design, ensure platform reliability, and deliver features that significantly improve customer conversations and outcomes. You will also lead teams that apply machine learning models and LLM-based APIs to create adaptive and personalized conversational agents.
This position is ideal for a leader who wants to shape the next generation of conversational AI and redefine how brands and customers interact at global scale.

- Actively participate in interviewing, hiring, and team leveling.
- Develop SMART goals and career development plans for direct reports.
- Develop and execute technical strategies aligned with Klaviyo's business goals, ensuring exceptional products and a reliable, user-friendly AI systems roadmap.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to understand needs, resolve blockers, manage expectations, and translate customer needs into valuable AI-driven roadmaps and solutions.
- Advise the team on modeling, system design, experimental design, and implementation decisions.
- Improve engineering-wide processes such as recruiting, performance development, communication, and agile development.
- Stay current with emerging AI trends and technologies, identifying and leveraging opportunities within Klaviyo's ecosystem.
Who You Are:
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with extensive work building AI-driven product features in a full-stack capacity and leading teams who have built scaled systems
- 5+ years of engineering management experience, including managing managers or multiple teams
- Exceptional communication skills, capable of collaborating with diverse stakeholders to translate business/product roadmaps into AI-driven technical roadmaps and solutions that add significant customer and business value.
- Motivated to grow the team through developing current members and attracting new talent to expand capabilities.
- Eager to engage with code, understand the product area, and provide applicable technical mentorship.
- In-depth understanding of common engineering architectures for highly scalable systems.
- Proven ability to lead and deliver complex, multi-quarter projects involving at least two teams.
- Comfortable conducting performance reviews and mentoring team members at all levels.

Tips for Finding Engineering Jobs at Klaviyo
Align your portfolio to Klaviyo's stack
Klaviyo's engineering org is heavily Python, Kafka, and AWS-oriented. Before applying, make sure your resume and GitHub portfolio surface direct experience with event-driven architectures and data pipelines, not just general backend work.
Target roles labeled senior or staff
Specialty occupation petitions face far less USCIS scrutiny when the role has clear degree requirements. Senior and staff engineering titles at technology companies like Klaviyo typically carry stronger job duty descriptions that support an H-1B specialty occupation argument.
Confirm sponsorship intent before the onsite round
Ask your recruiter explicitly whether the specific role and team support H-1B sponsorship. At companies with multiple business units, sponsorship policies can vary by team budget and headcount authorization, even when the company sponsors broadly.
Prepare your educational credentials for USCIS evaluation
If your engineering degree is from outside the United States, get a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization before your offer stage. USCIS requires this for the I-129 petition, and having it ready prevents delays after the offer.
Understand the cap and timing window before accepting
H-1B cap-subject petitions can only be filed once per fiscal year, with registration opening in March for an October 1 start. If you receive an offer outside that window, clarify with your employer whether a cap-exempt or change-of-status path applies to your situation.
Use Migrate Mate to filter engineering roles by sponsorship
Searching Klaviyo's open engineering roles alongside verified sponsorship data saves time and removes guesswork. Migrate Mate lets you filter specifically for companies with active H-1B and Green Card sponsorship history in engineering functions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Klaviyo sponsor H-1B visas for Engineers?
Yes, Klaviyo sponsors H-1B visas for engineering roles. The company files petitions through the standard USCIS cap process, which means timing matters. If you're already in the U.S. on OPT or another nonimmigrant status, discuss the transition timeline with your recruiter early in the process to avoid gaps in work authorization.
How do I apply for Engineering jobs at Klaviyo?
Applications go through Klaviyo's careers page, where engineering roles are organized by team and seniority level. The process typically involves a recruiter screen, a technical assessment, and several engineering interviews covering system design and coding. To find sponsorship-confirmed engineering openings at Klaviyo in one place, browse listings on Migrate Mate, which filters by companies with verified visa sponsorship history.
Which visa types does Klaviyo use for Engineering hires?
Klaviyo primarily sponsors H-1B visas for engineering roles, which require a specialty occupation determination and a certified Labor Condition Application filed with the DOL. For candidates pursuing permanent residence, Klaviyo also supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card pathways, which involve the PERM labor certification process before an immigrant petition can be filed with USCIS.
What qualifications does Klaviyo expect from Engineering candidates?
Klaviyo's engineering roles generally require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related technical field. Practical experience with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and large-scale data processing carries significant weight. For H-1B purposes, your degree field needs to align specifically with the duties of your role, not just engineering broadly.
How do I time my Engineering job search at Klaviyo around visa deadlines?
If you're on OPT, the 60-day grace period after your end date is not work-authorized, so targeting offers at least three to four months before your OPT expires gives your employer enough runway to prepare and file. For cap-subject H-1B petitions, USCIS registration opens in March and employment can start no earlier than October 1, so factor that into your offer negotiation and start date conversation.
