Align your credentials to U.S. academic standards
Midwestern University hires heavily in health sciences and biomedical fields. If your degree was awarded outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service before applying. Committees will expect your doctorate to map cleanly to the role's field requirements.
Target open faculty lines in clinical programs
Midwestern University posts Professor roles across osteopathic medicine, pharmacy, physician assistant, and dental programs. Filtering your search by department rather than job title alone helps you find lines where international faculty have historically been sponsored.
Ask hiring managers about cap-exempt H-1B eligibility
As a university, Midwestern University qualifies as a cap-exempt institution under USCIS rules, meaning H-1B petitions can be filed at any time of year without waiting for the annual lottery. Clarify this early in your offer negotiation so timelines are set correctly.
Confirm J-1 visa terms before accepting a postdoctoral offer
If you're entering through a J-1 exchange visitor appointment, check whether your program carries a two-year home residency requirement. That condition can block a future H-1B or Green Card filing and needs to be addressed before you sign an offer letter.
Prepare your LCA documentation before the offer stage
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting any H-1B petition. Confirm the prevailing wage for your specific department and location so you can benchmark your offer against what DOL requires for the role level.
Browse sponsored faculty roles using Migrate Mate
Finding Professor positions where visa sponsorship is genuinely on the table takes more than a keyword search. Use Migrate Mate to filter for Midwestern University faculty openings verified for sponsorship, so you're applying where the path is already established.

Find Professor at Midwestern University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Midwestern University sponsor H-1B visas for Professors?
Yes, Midwestern University sponsors H-1B visas for Professor roles. As a nonprofit university, it qualifies as a cap-exempt institution under USCIS rules, which means petitions can be filed year-round rather than through the annual lottery. This makes the timeline more predictable for faculty candidates than it would be at a for-profit employer.
How do I apply for Professor jobs at Midwestern University?
Applications for Professor positions at Midwestern University are submitted through the university's careers portal. Most faculty postings require a curriculum vitae, a cover letter, a research or teaching statement, and contact information for academic references. For international candidates, Migrate Mate surfaces verified faculty openings at Midwestern University where sponsorship has been confirmed, helping you focus your application effort.
Which visa types does Midwestern University commonly use for Professor roles?
Midwestern University sponsors H-1B visas for full-time faculty in specialty occupations, which covers most doctoral-level Professor roles. J-1 exchange visitor visas are also used for visiting faculty and postdoctoral appointments. F-1 OPT and CPT can bridge recent graduates into short-term academic work before a longer-term petition is filed. TN status is an option for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying academic fields.
What qualifications does Midwestern University expect for Professor positions?
Most Professor postings at Midwestern University require a terminal degree in the relevant discipline, typically a doctorate in a clinical, biomedical, or health sciences field. For clinically oriented roles, active licensure or board certification is often listed as a requirement. Teaching experience and a record of scholarly activity strengthen an application considerably, particularly for tenure-track lines.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Professor role at Midwestern University?
For H-1B filings, cap-exempt universities like Midwestern University can submit petitions at any point during the year. Standard USCIS processing runs several months, though premium processing can reduce that to around 15 business days. Realistically, you should build four to six months of lead time between an offer letter and your intended start date to allow for LCA certification, petition preparation, and USCIS adjudication.
