Verify Your Clinical Credentials Before Applying
Michigan requires NPs and PAs to hold active state licensure before starting work, and MyMichigan Health will need that license in hand before filing an H-1B petition. Start the Michigan licensing process early, as state board timelines can run several months.
Target MyMichigan Health's Outpatient and Specialty Openings
MyMichigan Health consistently posts NP and PA openings across outpatient clinics and specialty departments, not just inpatient units. Roles in primary care, cardiology, and orthopedics tend to have longer recruitment cycles, giving you more runway to align sponsorship conversations with the hiring timeline.
Clarify TN Eligibility if You Hold Canadian Citizenship
PA is an explicitly listed TN profession under USMCA. If you're a Canadian citizen, MyMichigan Health can process a TN at the port of entry without the H-1B lottery, making the sponsorship path significantly faster and more predictable than a full H-1B petition cycle.
Ask HR Directly About the LCA Filing Timeline
Before accepting an offer, confirm when MyMichigan Health intends to file the Labor Condition Application with DOL. The LCA must be certified before USCIS can accept the H-1B petition, and delays at this stage can push your start date back by weeks.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter NP and PA Openings by Visa Type
Searching broadly wastes time on roles where sponsorship isn't available. Use Migrate Mate to filter MyMichigan Health job listings specifically by the visa types they sponsor for NP and PA roles, so every application targets a confirmed sponsoring position.
Align Your Start Date With Cap Filing Deadlines
If your offer requires a cap-subject H-1B, USCIS only accepts new petitions in April for an October 1 start. Work backward from that date with your MyMichigan Health recruiter to ensure your offer letter, LCA certification, and supporting documentation are ready well before the filing window opens.

Find Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistant at MyMichigan Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does MyMichigan Health sponsor H-1B visas for Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistants?
Yes, MyMichigan Health sponsors H-1B visas for qualified NP and PA candidates. The process requires your Michigan state license to be active, a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL, and an approved I-129 petition filed with USCIS. Because NP and PA roles qualify as specialty occupations, they meet the foundational H-1B eligibility standard.
Which visa types does MyMichigan Health commonly use for Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistant roles?
MyMichigan Health sponsors H-1B visas as the primary path for most international NP and PA hires. F-1 OPT and CPT are also supported, which is relevant for graduates completing clinical training programs. Canadian citizens applying for PA roles may qualify for TN status under USMCA, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely and can be processed at the border.
What qualifications does MyMichigan Health expect for Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistant candidates?
MyMichigan Health expects NPs to hold a Master of Science in Nursing or Doctor of Nursing Practice, and PAs to have completed an accredited PA program with a master's degree. Active Michigan state licensure and NCCPA certification for PAs are required before your start date. Experience in a relevant specialty, such as primary care, cardiology, or orthopedics, strengthens your application considerably.
How do I apply for Nurse Practitioner Or Physician Assistant jobs at MyMichigan Health?
Browse open NP and PA positions at MyMichigan Health through Migrate Mate, which filters listings by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm eligibility before applying. Submit your application directly through MyMichigan Health's careers portal. Be explicit about your visa situation in your cover materials, and confirm sponsorship availability with the recruiter early in the process to avoid wasted time.
How long does the H-1B sponsorship process typically take for an NP or PA hired by MyMichigan Health?
For a cap-subject H-1B, count on a minimum of six months from offer to start date, given the April filing window and October 1 effective date. The DOL Labor Condition Application typically takes seven to ten business days. USCIS standard processing adds several additional months, though premium processing can reduce adjudication to roughly 15 business days for an additional fee.
