Translate your operations experience for Sodexo
Sodexo General Managers oversee P&L, client contracts, and hourly staff in managed services environments. Frame your resume around unit-level revenue ownership and client retention outcomes, not just kitchen or floor management tasks.
Target contract food service accounts directly
Sodexo staffs General Managers by account segment: healthcare, higher education, and corporate dining. Identifying which segment aligns with your background lets you filter open roles more precisely and tailor your application to the client environment you know best.
Clarify your visa category before the first interview
Sodexo sponsors multiple visa types for this role. Knowing whether your status requires H-2B, TN, OPT, or another pathway lets you tell the recruiter exactly what filing is needed, which reduces hesitation on the employer's side.
Use Migrate Mate to surface sponsored General Manager openings
Sodexo posts General Manager roles across hundreds of locations, but not all positions are open to visa sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for sponsored openings at Sodexo so you're only applying where the pathway is confirmed.
Prepare for DOL prevailing wage requirements early
For visa categories that involve a DOL wage determination, your offered salary must meet the prevailing wage for the General Manager role in that geographic area. Request the job location from your recruiter before the offer stage so you can verify alignment.
Confirm CPT or OPT is listed in your offer letter
If you're on F-1 OPT or CPT, your offer letter must explicitly state the position, start date, and that it qualifies as practical training in your field. Sodexo's HR team handles this regularly, but review the letter against your DSO's requirements before signing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Sodexo sponsor H-1B visas for General Managers?
General Manager roles at Sodexo are typically classified under managed food services operations rather than specialty occupations, which is the standard USCIS requirement for H-1B visa eligibility. Sodexo's documented sponsorship for this role tends to concentrate on H-2B visa, TN visa, J-1 visa, and F-1 work authorization categories. If H-1B is your target pathway, discuss the role's classification directly with Sodexo's HR or immigration team before applying.
How do I apply for General Manager jobs at Sodexo?
Start by browsing open General Manager roles on Sodexo's careers site, filtering by segment, which includes healthcare, higher education, and corporate dining accounts. You can also find sponsored General Manager openings at Sodexo on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship. When you apply, note your visa status in your cover letter or recruiter screen so sponsorship eligibility is addressed upfront.
Which visa types does Sodexo commonly use for General Manager roles?
For General Manager positions, Sodexo has a track record with H-2B for temporary or seasonal food service operations, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying management roles, J-1 for exchange-based placements, and F-1 OPT and CPT for recent graduates completing practical training. The right category depends on your nationality, educational background, and whether the role is temporary or ongoing.
What qualifications does Sodexo expect for General Manager roles?
Sodexo General Managers are expected to have direct experience running a food service unit with responsibility for budget, staffing, and client relationships. A degree in hospitality, food service management, or business is common, though significant operations experience in a contract food service or institutional dining environment can carry equivalent weight. Familiarity with managed services accounts in healthcare or higher education is a practical advantage.
How do I know if Sodexo will sponsor my specific visa before I apply?
Sponsorship eligibility at Sodexo varies by role location, contract type, and your immigration status. The clearest path is to apply and raise your visa category in the initial recruiter screen so it's documented from the start. You can also check Sodexo's DOL filing history through publicly available OFLC disclosure data to confirm which visa types have been used for similar roles in your target geography.
